For some reason I just felt like listening to this. I don't know why.

I went to a Swans show once and it's probably the single thing that I would choose to undo out of all the things I've done.
-
I ended up finding a Vivobook S14 for $500 (marked down from $800 because of a microscopic blemish on the corner of the casing). So far it's doing much better than the old brick I was using. Also has phenomenal specs for its price range.
-
Is it too late for me to submit something ? I just noticed that this is happening.
-
I'll probably go for the ASUS TUF since it has better specs than the Zenbook and is about $300 cheaper.
-
Thanks, @TubularCorporation. Having more than I need is exactly what I'm going for, since I'm starting to invest a lot more into my projects and want to leave room open for them to grow. The only problem I've read about so far with the Zenbook is that the trackpad stops working quite often, which can be fixed by simply having a mouse. But HDMI usability will probably be important if I ever do live visuals for anything, so I'll look into it. The laptop you have actually has a dedicated GPU, which is odd since only the higher end Zenbooks have that.

I have recently found myself in this dilemma. I've been doing audiovisual stuff lately and found that my computer doesn't know how to handle it. It would be nice to have something portable as well since my desktop has been annoying when traveling and doing live stuff in the past.
The computer I've been looking at is the ASUS Zenbook 14, which is just a little out of date and is therefore quite affordable now. Does anyone know if this is the kind of machine that could handle live generating of Jitter visuals and also record them at high definition simultaneously ?
-
I didn't know about VDMX. Thanks for the hint, I already know I'm going to have a lot of fun with this.
Edit:
I just noticed that it's Mac only. Back to Jitter then.

Convolvers are the only reverb I'm interested in using these days

I think the Sidrax is like that, too. I haven't played with one but I have a Cocoquantus and that one is interconnected in a similar way.
-
It looks like a much more user-friendly version of the Sidrax Organ

I've never heard of Floating Points, but I'm in love with that video. The music is good, too.

I was wondering more about the pitched tones that appear throughout the video, like the bassline in the early bits. It doesn't sound like it's manually sequenced to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

Can you please play a set in Boston ? This is seriously beautiful stuff.

Unexpected neuro bass at the end of solipsist
How did you do the video for chaos flutter ? I've been getting more into abstract visuals and this kind of stuff is exactly what I'm interested in. The higher pitched sounds in the second half of the song remind me of Ableton's "grain delay" effect. Your tracks have a great dynamic range to them that adds a lot of character to the ambient genre, which can be excessively boring at times.

17:30 (in the first video) is where is gets really interesting. Is that a granular effect ?
Also, are you generating tones algorithmically, or are they somehow emerging from the wooden thing ?

Sounds like the input on the vocoder in these tracks is going in a different rhythm than the vocals. Am I correct ? The effect sounds really, really cool to me, anyway. It reminds me of Returnal by Oneohtrix Point Never. Vocoded supersaws are a great way of blending vocals into the track without taking focus away from the synths and overall atmosphere, and also colors the aural landscape with recognizable patterns that sound more distant than they should.
Wild and Free sounds like it could do with a more detailed bass frequencies, though. Maybe taking away from the sustain on the sine wave and attenuating the 120-200hz range. There's a lot going on in the mid frequency range that doesn't feel like it's allowed to breathe properly until the bass cuts out.

I still can't ever remember that guy's name because the only thing I can think of when I see him is Nikola Tesla, and I know that isn't him

No, US is cannabis+heroin+meth+benzodiazepene. Those are the substances that America runs on.

My advice is to be careful making music inspired by your dreams. I did that for a while and the dreams started getting really weird and bleeding into my waking life. Not fun. Thanks for checking my BC btw.
We Are The Music Makers | Volume Two (PLANNING & DISCUSSION)

What's the status of this ? I'm already in the latter stages of a track that I'd like to submit.
Personally, I think a vinyl release is a bad idea. It's prohibitively expensive, takes up too much space, and is a really big waste. Also, the Flashbulb video that was posted recently points out the toxicity of the medium. So we would just be delaying the project for something that needlessly pollutes the world and our own bodies.
Also, as far as the voting goes, I think the status of the poll should be invisible to people who haven't voted yet. But also, we would need to wait until every track has been submitted until we start the poll, or else the submissions that come in later won't really have a chance. So the rule about voting in order to submit would need to be either removed or altered in accordance with that.
Also, I'd be happy to help with the artwork as far as I can.
