  1. Aye, sometimes it comes on and I just cringe all the way through, other times I sort of "get" it and its exaggerated earnestness

It reminds me a lot of the Pure and the Damned track from the Good Time OST but that's a lot less on the nose (Iggy Pop's vocal talent probably helps a lot there). The final scene it's used for is pretty powerful too.

  2. I can’t believe this guy made an entire album and massive ad campaign to troll me like this

he can't keep getting away with this

    called r+7 donkey kong music

lol + kinda accurate tbh + also could still be considered a compliment in my mind

like if someone described the album to me as "donkey kong country ost grows up & starts smoking weed & goes to a good liberal arts college" i'd be like "fuck yeah pop that shit on"

There's a YT comment on one of the GoD videos that the album sounds like aliens tried to make human music out of PS1 demo disc menu music and that's honestly pretty accurate

  3. I watched two episodes of the Orville. What the hell is this? It's like a complete Star Trek rip off. Are the two or three quips / attempts at humour per episode supposed to make this unique? How are the Star Trek people ok with this? So bad.

It's kinda supposed to be a bit of a Trek rip off... but man, it looks so cheap (like, moreso than 90s/00s Trek by today's standards), and yeah the dumb gags just completely take me out of it. Really is just a vanity/fan project for Seth Macfarlane.

  4. Who is playing the Dark Souls remaster? Hearing it’s very close to the original but then I saw this video and it looks a little different to me...

It looks like they changed and fixed little to nothing wrt. gameplay, and I'm not a huge fan of how it looks with changes lighting and textures, so I passed. The main purpose of the project really seems to have just been about porting for the Switch.

  5.

Just got back from his show at Primavera.

Kind of ruined everything for me. No more live band please

Gonna take a few months to recover then I'll listen to that album again on headphones

this happened for me with GoD!! The show was terrible. What was wrong this time? The recording at the Armory was A++

Also, I'm sorry that happened! Disappointing for sure

I went to his GOD show and it was excellent with Nate Boyce. And it was piercingly loud

    This one... Ugh

    Why was it so bad?

    Decided to dig further.

And, well... it's me, so... you know how that usually ends up.

Oneohtrix Point Never - We'll Take It EP (WAP424)

    6th July 2018

'Oneohtrix Point Never (OPN / Daniel Lopatin) returns hot on the heels of his latest album Age Of with an EP featuring album single "We'll Take It" and three new OPN songs. An album favourite, "We'll Take It" is given new context here as the lead track and video. A dark, facetious song that fuses industrials sounds, ecstatic and reckless synths, and something OPN described as "sideways ragtime" piano played by James Blake. An edited version of "Trance 1" has been heard as part of "A Message From Earth", a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Golden Records sent on both Voyager Spacecrafts with sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture.'

    A1 We'll Take It

    A2 Monody

    AA1 Blow by Blow

    AA2 Trance 1

    - First in a series of 12" following recent release Age Of

3rd card in the collectors card series available with this release

    Still got it.  :catsalute:

jason hacking warehouse DBs in the name of choons

new video sounds good! wonder if he'll direct another?

"If it weren't for James Blake being like, 'Shut the fuck up with your shit,'" Lopatin told Red Bull Radio. "'Save that for your cute little opera. This is an album' … There's traces of me trying to do that and then traces of James being like, 'No.'"

I don't dislike James Blake, but Lopatin should cut him off asap imo

on the other hand it does sound like Lopatin is perhaps a bit inundated with ideas (as recent interviews show), I think he definitely needs someone to curate before his spirals out... evidently Blake wasn't the right person tho, I do agree with sentiments that a lot of tracks seem a bit stunted in their growth. Warning in particular, imo.
