Ok, Symphony Of the Night is pretty excellent. Not convinced yet that it lives up to the hype, and it's way easier than the Castlevania I'm used to, but it's definitely a good game and I'm glad I'm finally playing it. Glad they kept the original English voice acting for this port, apparently they "improved" it for most of them.
Not sure how far you've got and I don't want to say nuffink about nuffink ... but IMO it definitely gets better as it progresses ! (It's one of my favourite games of all time)

Also, for many years I felt I was competing with the expectations set by my early records.
To be fair, when you've stuck this banger out in '98 it'd be near impossible to live up to expectations

I used to use Reaktor a lot but its update/support cycle is ridiculously slow these days, particularly with respect to Mac OS update support.
I think it still works for now but I can’t really justify continued investment in NI stuff.
Think it's still a big app for NI and we're getting VST3 and Silicon support soon (or now if you're happy using the beta) - https://synthanatomy.com/2023/02/native-instruments-reaktor-6-5-0-brings-vst3-and-native-apple-silicon-support-now-in-beta.html

I realize Orb albums are best formatted for CD but I’d kill for a vinyl repress of their early to mid 90s output. Orbus Terrarum in particular.
The most complete version of Orbus Terrarum is actually the 12'' - especially in comparison to the UK CD which is missing both the intro to Oxbow Lakes and the last section of Slug Dub (the US CD is just missing the Oxbow Lakes intro)

wow i've never seen that draft clip before! is this part of a longer vid that i'm not aware of?
I've not seen it either - I know the CD release had multiple versions of the Draft image inside, presumably they were stills chosen from that video ? Can't imagine there's a whole video for the entirety of Surripere, would love there to be but alas I think Alex would probably still be working on the video now if so !

first track is deece actually. its too easy to hate on the orb now come on you slags
I've every Orb album since Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld (some as multiples, eg Ultraworld and UFOrb as both the original and the deluxe reissues) though with every release Alex's role within the group mystifies me more and more (to the point of which the infamous 'Weston rant' now seems less of a rant and more of a truth-bomb (though his opinion of Fehlmann's look can get to f***) https://web.archive.org/web/20140626033214/https://krisweston.com/index.php/rant/ )
Would love to come across any examples of a Paterson solo piece just to be proven wrong that he can make music though !

Oooooo! Sounds great! Love this album, but hate the words "Record Store Day"!!
Aye, I'll wait for a digital copy (I'm crossing my fingers the 'exclusively' doesn't end up actually being exclusive !)

Can someone explain to me (like I’m in kindergarten) what this “exclusive limited digital release” is all about? Is NFT? https://serenade.co/@orbital/optical-delusion
Yep, though instead of just getting a picture as your 'receipt' you also get a version of the album (and what seems like an interview video too?). But yeah its NFT stuff

I tried typing something whilst Obu was playing and it felt like my fingers were upside down and inside out.

these aren't free anymore ($10 for all of em, close enough) but man i was struggling to remember the dev name and couldn't track em down anywhere but here! thank goodness for KAEN
Woah that collection takes me back - Though nicely priced I wonder why he's started charging for them (especially as they're still just 32bit vsts and don't appear to have been updated since the 00s when they were still gratis)

I didn't actually realise he'd done anything for about 10 years. Last I saw of him he looked like Cory Feldman's stunt double, but now he seems to be going for more of a Drake's stunt double look

Digital version now available on Bandcamp

Think that cover is from the 60s Romeo & Juliet film that caused 10 year old me to have weird feelings in my tummy when I saw it at school .... (and a very flustered looking teacher)
Hopefully it'll be on Bandcamp soon - unfortunately I've ran out of space for non-digital vinals

Body Riddle (and associated EPs) was when he switched to Clark. The way you worded that made me wonder, was there a legal reason he had to?
This is the reason he gave back in 2012 ( https://web.archive.org/web/20121214011851/http://www.themilkfactory.co.uk/interviews/cclark_2_iw.htm
QuoteWhat’s going on with the change of name? Is it anything to do with the fact that you share a name with Motown’s one and only white soul diva?
It actually isn’t although that does seem like a good reason. I reckon all the Chris Clarks should perform together as one magic band, either at a dingy local pub or Wembley Stadium. Mmmm. Actually I don’t really reckon that. Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve done interviews. The name change just means people don't have to waste oxygen on "Chris". "Chris" Clark is also just a bit too much "oh look at me aren't I just everybody’s jovial little mash-head pal".
His original moniker 'Chris From St Albans' I guess also sounded too much like an indie band....

(this is that horrendous linked vimeo link in that picture by the way - The incorrect text-encoding in the video title text definitely shows their level of quality standards )
Wow the boys have definitely fallen far from their 'The Girl with the Sun in Her Head' era (made using the electricity provided by Greenpeace's mobile solar power generator) to now releasing NFT-ized limited editions

Nah he likes Hecker ... just more the Florian kind
The track in the first post sounds quite different from his previous stuff, sounds more akin to something by Ben Frost. Am I right in thinking they collabed in the past, maybe he borrowed some composing tips !
This is my favourite of his, much less crunchy and lots of lovely field recordings and other found sound snippets

Cycling into the thread like Stoya on a bike: How lovely is this mix for lovely lazy Sunday afternoons ?! Been listening though this about an hour at a time for the past 5 weeks and the track selection for pottering around the place doing little jobs is just *chef's kiss*

Since FLAC is an uncompressed format, it should in theory give you an exact digital copy, right?
It's a COMPRESSED format ... though one that is LOSSLESS (Think a .zip made from an .exe - The .zip is smaller but you'd expect the same .exe bytes back after you've uncompressed it!)

fun, this :
this needs translation + context explanation for non-french people -- I'll give it a try in the next post -- but you'll probably get the idea already
I said 'Bonjour' and from my limited French vocabulary I think I got scolded and told to say more than just 'Bonjour'
