  1. My dear boy -

    Sharing Music

Along the same lines above, asking for copyrighted music in a thread is generally frowned upon, as it does infringe upon the rights of the copyright holder. There's always exceptions to the rule, and if for any reason you are unsure about whether something is suitable to posting on the board and you are not the copyright holder, it's best to either ask a Mod or Administrator for advice. Don't assume that if something is out of print that it's alright to post; the copyright on that music still exists, and should be respected. Of course, if it's your own music, then fine, go right ahead, as long as you're not overly spamming your music and it's done in the appropriate forum/subforum.

Asking for copyrighted music is generally a no-no as well, for the reasons stated above, as well as it's basically making the forum a P2P site or a links site, facilitating piracy of copyrighted material. Being slick about it and not directly asking for the music, but still obviously implying you'd like someone to send you a copy is also frowned upon. Keep such discussions to PMs (Private Messages) or outside the forums. We can't stop you pirating music, but we do need to ensure that the forums don't get shut down over the overt sharing of copyrighted material.

  2. I've been utterly entranced by this album since I bought it at the weekend. The first half (3/4 ?) is definitely stronger than the last which may be the issue that some people have with the album, as their lasting impressing is that of the (imo) weaker final track. I notice that in the track-by-track interview the running order is quite different, I wonder if that's how the album was originally intended ?

Track 2 (Power of Persuasion) gave me goose-pimples today (that's goose-bumps to you overseas folks), I don't think I've had that with any track for a long time ....

  3. It's one of the worst presses i've ever heard. Even worse than the Street Halo A side in fact. Distorted to hell and back and sounding positively nasty. Not just my copy either, as a few others on discogs were saying the same thing. Tragic really.

I think (think !) it's intentional, either that or employees in the pressing house in charge of OK-ing side B all needs firing. I'm pretty sure the heavy distortion on the vocals etc. is all part of the not-quite-tuned-in-radio atmosphere that seems to run thoughout this record.

  4. I completely forgot I downloaded this free compilation album last year until I refound it a couple of days ago:

    It's pretty darn nice !

  5. o ok i didnt see that u musta snuck it in after my post

nuh-huh (how on earth do you spell that ?!) - Otherwise it would have an 'Edited by ######, date/time' stamp innit ....

But anyway, if Mr. Lopatin can fit his nigh-on perfect 80s vibe of his Games alias into the dark sounds of his Oneohtrix Point Never alias then it's sure to be one hell of an album.

  6. It's bloody ace huh ! NB If you do get it, DON'T use the supplied SD card - the data transfer rate isn't quite quick enough resulting in clicks in your recordings and thus you'll think the units broken when it's not. It's only 512Mb so you'd probably get a new one anyways ....

As for a windshield, I've got this one -

    RDE1037.jpg

It's meant for Rode NT4 mics ( http://www.mpex.com/browse.cfm/4,13396.html ) but fits nice and snugly over the top of the H2 fine and ends up looking like some mutated furby -
