I will look into this further. yeah it does seem like a good idea! he'd better not do any messing about with the files though....there's lots of mention of declicking, dehiss and denoise I'll second that. I've just noticed though - it seems like he only does transfer to CD, so sound quality won't be good enough WATMM edit: derp....FAQ states he can convert to multiple formats

    I think going for April 14th would have been rather cheesy, and considering the media whirlwind that is happening at the moment, I definitely think this should be struck while the iron is hot. definitely side with comments about Tomorrow's Hype

    the turntable is adequate, but for the love of RDJ we must find better ripping equipment. If someone is **considering** purchasing an external sound card for this rip, then we can most certainly find a better ripper and setup. As a rule of thumb, let's ensure our ripping setup costs more than our record to be ripped. I'd rather see VPI over Technics for the turntable, and Grado (or similar) over Ortofon for the cartridge. We need the cartridge to be properly aligned. We need a kickass preamp and a good soundcard. Joyrex, I'm sure you have all of the resources you need, but feel free to reach out if you want to brainstorm on how to get the best signal chain possible. Has anyone contacted pbthal? haha

    ah, cool, hadn't seen that. three new pages of responses appeared whilst i was writing the above. when i started it still said that they were waiting for amazon payments approval. busy day at work :) yeah, threads like this tend to grow very quickly. Happens every time there's official news of an Autechre, Aphex, or BoC release. if you stick around, you'll get used to it!

    I take it that 'professionally' means the following: High quality equipment (i.e not half-busted Stanton 500 / Concorde through a Numark mixer into a Dell laptop) Absolutely no declicking, dehissing, EQing, compressing, remastering or processing of ANY kind I'm surprised no-one else has chimed in about this. xy_politics is completely and absolutely right on this. Any rip that's done shouldn't be messed about with at all (not even normalisation). Just a good, hot signal.
