i personally usually find it pretty easy to hear the difference between 44.1 and anything above 44.1 (48/96). there's a sheen and warmth that's just not present at 44.1. (Of course that could have something to do with the conversion process too..) but as for 24 bit, for his music, i highly doubt it makes any perceivable difference. This is exactly the placebo audiophile bullshit you need to shut up about. In the respectable scientific audio community if you want to make a dubious claim, like it's easy to differentiate between 16/44 and higher res audio, you need to be able to back it up with proof that you can actually hear a difference (ABX test results). Sheen and warmth are bullshit audiophile terms. If you tried to spout this nonsense at hydrogenaudio you'd be mocked if not banned. /rant

Nope, sorry but that's bullshit, anyone who claims they can tell the difference is either lying or deluded by their bias towards wanting the "hi-res" to sound better. It's why proper listening tests are conducted blindly - see this article on blind testing and this article on ABX at hydrogenaudio. No one has ever been able blindly tell the difference between 24 and 16.

yep, that the technical shit. But you can't call x "better" than y if you can't hear any difference between them. Being able to discern between 16 and 24 is beyond the limits of human hearing.

I wonder. Being the audiophile I am I opted for the 24-bit version. I'm hoping it takes advantage of the dynamic range of 24-bit (eg uses less compression/has more depth or something). Quaristice would probably have benefited from that as well, it has a lot of super quiet and subtle things in the mixes. Sorry guys but the 24-bit is quite pointless audiophile wankery. You could put Rudy van Gelder in an isolation booth better than anything in existence today with million dollar monitors, and he still couldn't tell the difference between 16 and 24. At least Warp isn't charging more for 24-bit. I tried hard to refrain from calling anyone an idiot but after reading some of the subsequent posts I can safely say that there are idiots afoot, yep

i don't think i would like to hear either of those... all autechre albums are hip-hop albums, lol People always seem to throw around the guest-mc idea, which sounds great in principle, but has it ever been properly executed? I look at an album like dabrye's 2/3 and think ugh, what a mess. shit, even hiphop producer albums built around guest mcs suck 9 times out of 10. That said, a whole album in the style of Adverse Camber would be awesome

It's more or less a continuation of the direction he took with Ringer, so don't expect anything like the folktronica of Pause or Rounds, but it's still has that warm four tet sound. Have a listen yourself, the whole album is streaming for free.

This delivers, great album. Looking forward to getting a hard copy.

Oh yeah, a short time later they also did a guest mix on her show which was absolutely amazing. I hope they do another one for this release
