  1. Wow. Yeah this seems pretty confirmed at this point. My biggest doubt came from these tracks sounding too clean when compared to released early afx, but otherwise this sounds very much like early 90s afx to me. So exciting!
  2. Ok, I hope this is the right thread, since I'm chemically inclined to share, so let's do this. I'm going to share my experience with SAWII. Specifically disc one track 3(rhubarb). On one of my first listens, at the age of 16, I was in the middle of a pretty intense flu. Enough of a fever at a young age to produce a "trip". Largely before I had the internets,I didn't know who or what Aphex Twin was at the time, other than it was who had created some "remixes" of nine inch nails that were on Further Down the Spiral, which sounded so 'apart' from the rest of that CD that I had to investigate further. I used gift money to buy SAWII on CD for my 16th birthday, and after a few listens, copied about 3 quarters of the tracks to a d-90 cassette, which was on my walkman for almost the entire year of 1996 in high school. This particular tape was in my deck when I was in the midst of that fever, and to this day I can't hear it without a brief 'contact high'. It's playing right now, and while nostalgia is absolutely playing it's part, I still feel like it's the most beautiful piece of music I've ever experienced. Starting with those NIN remixes and then with ICBYD, one of my first impressions of Aphex was how alien it all sounded. My only frame of reference at the time that seemed to resonate was Super Metroid. (funny anecdote. back in the day, I had a lengthy conversation with Marumari on AIM about this connection) It felt like an alien world, and with my cheap headphones, I wanted to explore it forever. Many replacement headphones later,I still haven't discovered everything, and am happy to report that I think I never will. This track in particular appears to be comprised of flutes that...shouldn't exist Like the resonance of air though ancient walls, or a lullaby communicated by an alien intelligence. Every once in awhile I have to remind myself that this was made by an actual person. I've been listening to all kinds of music for 20 years since, and have never come close to the feeling I get every time I hear the opening moments of this track. And there's so many others. I'm older now, and make my own music as a hobby. I was a little worried that learning the ropes would somehow de-mystify experiences like these, but to be honest, it's only enhanced it. I read an interview with Squarepusher where he mentioned that his personal proof of the supernatural was in music, and it's tracks like these that make me agree with that sentiment. Thanks for reading. Y'all are wonderful.
  3. I'm starting to warm to CIRCLONT6A. I like that subtle Flow Coma bassline at about 3:35.
  4. Was that for me? Yeah, and I should quote more.
  5. We might be controversial taste buddies.
  6. Google play says I'm on my 6th listen today. So far the two CIRCLONT tracks are my least favorite. Likely they'll be growers.
  7. It's better than drukqs for me. Then again I think the first 5 tracks are the clear standouts, so what the hell do I know.
  8. I was worried I was over-hyping myself, but this album has blown me away. It's like every element in his creative history is represented and it all works so god damned well.
  9. Strong AB5 vibe on track 2 for me.
  10. Dear baby Jesus, please get us to the next page so I don't have to scroll past 3 duck faces each time I load the thread.
  11. Started in on Destiny last night. I'm still not entirely sure how much content there's gonna be, since I only had time to play through the bits I'd already done in the beta, but I like it. I also recently finished the newest South Park game, and was surprised how much it grabbed me. I can highly recommend it.
  12. One of the items on the list is the insanely vague "Modular systems/Eurorack", which could be referencing hundreds of different modules by dozens of different manufacturers right there, including several that sound rather TB-303-like. Strange, though, that I see a few euro modules listed by name as well. I remember hearing that Intellijel got into making modules because he heard that Richard built his own synths. He must be pretty happy to see it come full circle! Yes, it does seem a bit inconsistent. He lists some Cwejman modules too, for instance, but not e.g. the Metasonix ones. It's still easily the most complete and accurate gear list we've ever gotten out of him, I think. I'm going to try to avoid staring at it for too long and making my wallet sad.

  14. Here's another review. Shit just got real.
  15. FACT appears to have a track-by-track impression description of SYRO.
  16. This is just lovely. It sounds like Tuss++
  17. Like tomorrow thursday tomorrow?
  18. What is this? This is really good.
  19. Was that the Gonzi designed Rephlex page with the Gundam on it? I'm not sure why I don't remember videos on it. The only bit of media I remember from that was that weird call in show where that guy talked about windows, haha.
  20. Sounds fake to me as well. I guess we'll see!
  21. Translation is rough for me, but did he just confirm the Tuss was him in that?
  22. IMO: I'm over the goddamn moon about SYRO regardless, but I'm inclined to think there's gonna be another release, and Joyrex knows, which is why we're still getting so many mysterious comments with ellipses... Because you never know... Except I think he does. Or does he...? Yes
  23. Maybe just a bit. Holy shit this is exciting, haha.
