Forbes represents the ideals of the free market, Trump and his bunch of loyalists love that idea, and one of the leading publications that represent it have slammed them. Like seriously, if you’d read anything I’ve ever posted, you’ll know that I strongly believe in well-regulated markets, and the US and the GOP in particular erode regulations in a ridiculous manner.

    Define government paper work? Like a drivers license? Voting registration? Tax forms (that would be fucking weird)? Places like Japan and South Korea, private sector resumes must include a photograph, so they can avoid hiring uglies. In Myanmar, they ask ethnicity and religion. If you’re not Buddhist and Bamar, you’re fucked. In Canada, government paperwork would almost never ask race, except for census related materials, and there are pretty strict privacy laws for Statistics Canada.

    Confucius would advise leaders to act morally to show that they had the mandate of heaven, i.e. a lot of PR and propaganda. Part of it of course was based on the five levels of relationships (five or seven, can’t recall exactly) that Confucius also extolled as being key to a functioning society, which led to a whole lot of uncritical thinking by just assigning respect to elders... So that’s a great analogy for the GOP.

    As has been mentioned - pardons only for federal - state prosecutors free to go after him - and the NY State prosecutors do not like trump. At all. Pleading the fifth just means you refuse to answer questions, so while he may refuse to incriminate himself, he absolutely can still face trial and be found guilty. Yeah some of those Capitol police need to be investigated and prosecuted.

    They absolutely should have been way better prepared and massive numbers should have been there. The appointment of Miller to Acting Secretary DoD was likely key in removing that preparation.
