  1. Probably gonna start playing Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs later today ... already scared. That install-progress-bar looks way too creepy.
  2. I have seen "Feuchtgebiete" (Wetlands), the recently release film-version of that "controversial" novel by Charlotte Roche... well, the first 45 minutes of it. Then the stream broke down and I couldn't be arsed to find a new one to finish this disaster. This was probably the worst piece of shit I've seen this year, certainly the worst piece of German film shit. The novel has been over-hyped ever since its release, it's kind of a "filthy version" of that godawful Shades of Grey, starring a girl who likes to rub her twat on public toilet seats and has zero interest in anything else but anal sex, then has to go to the hospital because of her severe hemorrhoids. A very "deep" plot. However, the book is known for its explicit descriptions and is celebrated as a kind of neo-feminist-manifesto, and the film apparently had people leaving the cinema and the usual PR-crap, so we figured, it would at least have a bit of controversy or at the very least a bit of close-up-vag in it - it does not. It doesn't have anything in it except for the massive (non-explicit) dick it sucks from the very beginning. Every cliché of German cinema gets emulated here, it's so desperately trying to capture the wittiness of "Run Lola Run" and such, but it does so in a completely soulless, textbook manner, as if the film was made by a bunch of lawyers who calculated the box-office during the writing process ... which thinking about it probably is the case. The absolute worst bit of the film is the lead actress who apparently gets a lot of praise now by various "critics", being described as the "greatest discovery for German cinema in years", being praised for "conquering such a bold role" and such ... there is no way I can have an appropriate reaction to this by mere text, I actually punched my table with my fist when I read it yesterday. This is probably the most obviously talentless sock puppet of an actress I've seen to date. They have her reading out most of her lines in a voice-over, and even here she sounds like a non-german-speaking autistic person on serious medication reading out a German text. Every line of hers is cringeworthy and unbelievable, you can tell how the "actress" (assuming she did understand what she was reading out in the first place) has a totally different position to the text's contents than the character she is supposed to play. Another reason for outrage is how they totally got rid of the whole assfucking theme that's kind of the core of the book. Probably even to mention that would have been too much for German audiences. She does say "When it comes to sex for me, the butt is involved." so I guess that's as hardcore as it gets with this movie. Wait a minute, wasn't this supposed to be a pro-feminist movie? What the hell? How about have a socially competent main character who does a bunch of stuff and then goes "by the way, I like my vag" - instead, we get a mentally deranged Freudian It-character who can't even manage to speak properly and is totally fixated on her cunt as the center of her life, which of course, is only hinted and not shown, so you're left with a character who is just generally a hollow, neurotic shell of a person. So there's your role model I guess. To give the film the benefit of the doubt, I haven't seen the 2nd half of it, perhaps we get to see her with a baseball bat up her ass in full close-up later on, but I have my doubts about how this would raise the film's quality. This is German cinema money making, anti-feminism and for the most part complete banality at its finest. I probably would have considered self-harming, had I paid any money for seeing it. What a piece of shit.
  3. right? I mean, there are some stronger and some weaker actors in it. The Spokeswoman who does the press conferences and some of the narration doesn't really do that good a job. But I somehow felt like the acting in general got better the further I got into the film. I don't know whether that was just me getting used to the style or whether they actually put on better performances later on. Maybe they shot it chronologically and got more involved or something. My girlfriend had to inform me one of the lead actors is the guy from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Michael Nygvist), I didn't even recognize him. Happens to me a lot. Anyway, the facts that the filmmakers actually checked with NASA to make the film as scientifically correct as possible and that they involved Neil deGrasse are very sympathetic. Is it a well-known fact that the sound design on his predecessor (Pitch Black) was in fact done by Robert Rich?
  4. I was looking for a half-decent space-movie and stumbled upon "Europa Report". A group of scientists go on a manned mission to the Jupiter-moon Europa (which in reality is debated to have liquid water underneath its ice surface) - that was enough to make me want to watch it, and to my surprise, it was actually one of the better sci-fi-films I've seen! It has a charming low-budget feel to it and it's actually a bit more scientifically correct and realistic than most sci-fi-films, which I liked, being a bit of an astronomy-nerd. Oh yeah and this is yet another found footage film, but it's not really noticeable after a while as it's not degraded low-rez-images but HD camera footage (as would be the case on a space mission these days) and it feels like watching a film with a traditional movie camera most of the time. It's clearly inspired by Danny Boyle's Sunshine and the usual suspects when it comes to space, but it pulls it off nicely. Recommended!
  5. There's a sequel? Oh man that's great news! I don't expect much but I love found footage & the concept of several segments and would love to contribute a(n actual scary) segment of my own to a compilation like this some day, looking forward to yet another fun Halloween movie!
  6. I watched Buried last night, a film about a guy buried alive that takes place entirely within the little coffin-like box he's buried in. I went in with low expectations and it was actually a tad better than expected. The performance of the lead actor was solid and the pacing was alright, too. It was also nicely shot, taking into account how little space there was available, and made creative use of the limitations. However, I have some issues with the story and the background, which is kinda questionable as it makes the film seem like a bit of a homeland security propaganda flick and also takes away a lot of the tension. It would have been a lot scarier not knowing who the guy had been buried alive by and why, but the film gibes this away very early and it is a bit of a rubbish idea, too. It was still a very dark film, both visually and mentally. I imagine it must be a terrifying film for people who suffer from claustrophobia. I also watched Uli Seidl's Import/Export which I highly, highly, highly recommend. It's reminiscent of Michael Haneke's ultra-realistic style, perhaps even more realistic than his films (given that Seidl uses non-actors to shoot his films with, so a lot of it isn't even acting) - The film consists of two alternating storylines, one about a girl from the Ukraine who moves to Austria and finds herself in one horrible situation after the other (Import) and one about two guys from Austria who travel Eastern European countries doing some sleazy business (Export). This film was very harsh and emotional without being cheesy or sentimental. I'd even say it's flawless. Watch this if you like Haneke.
  7. So can you clarify on how you "accidently" show someone that? cycling through your pics on your phone trying to show someone something, suddenly naked ppls It happens: A while back, I lent my camera to someone for a bit. It was only after I got it back and scrolled through my own photos on the same card that I realized the the full close-up vag & ass was still on there. I don't know whether the girl I lent the camera to saw the pics or not. Then, I took some other pictures and wanted to transfer them onto my PC, with a friend sitting next to me. I did know it would show me a thumbnail of the first couple of pics on the SD card, however I didn't realize the same vag'n'ass-pics were like the 8th to 12th pics on the card, so they showed up within the mosaic or thumbnails - again, not sure whether he saw them or not. Neither of them said anything.
  8. post it up on vimeo, so we can groove to it. ;-] Won't be wasted then. I will, it's mostly sampled stuff but it contains an unfinished work of my own, and I want to either finish it or replace that segment before I upload it. No! Okay yes, but only nice & degraded Super8 quality porn and only about 2% of the whole thing (after the cops came). The rest of the party was rather peaceful as you can see, but someone still had to notify big brother, of course.
  9. Had a nice outdoor-party tonight, spent weeks preparing a 4+ hour mix + video installation which I projected onto my entire house - neighbours called the police at 9 pm.
  10. I'm watching the rather rubbish 8th season of Dexter (which entertains me quite well!) and catching up with a few new-era Futurama-episodes I've missed (Reincarnation was superb!)
  11. If you like this stuff, check out Aurel Schmidt as well.
  12. ^ wow guess I needed to get that out of my system - after posting this, I had a new approach with the album and the majority of my criticism has evaporated into thin air, really. I guess being swamped with overwhelmingly positive reviews all day long made me feel like I wasn't 'allowed' to dislike anything about the album without coming along like a total dick. Now that I stopped giving many shits about how much of a dick I am, it's starting to grow on me rather quickly (or it was just the number of plays that were needed, who cares)
  13. For me, fights in dreams are usually a desperate struggle of touching, grabbing, wrestling somebody/something until some weird unexpected thing happens that usually leaves no clear winner and both parties somewhat injured. More or less realistic, I guess.
  14. I don't think I entirely agree, but the smackos point hit the head full on, imo. Yeah that's sort of what I meant, too, I guess. I'm sure the long gap between TH and their last release before that does influence my reception of the album a bit ... which it shouldn't. Maybe if this was released some two years after Campfire Headphase, I'd be thinking "Aaah, nice, the bro's are still experimenting! Perhaps not 100% my thing but they've got a promising future ahead of them!" instead of "Really, THAT'S where they ended up? I think I liked the older style better..." I'm trying to rid myself of that whole OMG IT'S BOC-expectation-thing and just listen to the album for what it is ... and I think there's a good number of tracks on there, had I heard them not knowing that it was in fact BoC, I might not even have linked it to them. Telepath is a vintage BoC-track, but White Cyclosa (which is one of my favorites, actually!) I might never have linked to them. Which is fine, really. The only "problematic" aspect of the album, imo, are tracks like Cold Earth - those are instant-like-tracks that have the trademark BoC-signature, very much in the same spirit as Sunshine Recorder or 1969 (you know, tracks that could have been on a single) - yet it's these tracks that feel like they 'lack' something, I guess it's the soul and vividness of their familiar output. They sound so cleanly produced, and it can't be just down to less compressor or tape hiss or whatever (I'm not familiar with these terms). When I listen to Cold Earth, I'm like "Oh yeah guys, this is pretty lush alright, I can hop around to that, and oooh here come the voice-bits, it's proper BoC I guess!" But there's something it's missing. Skeletal is a good adjective to describe these tracks, I guess. They're everything but bad, yet they feel like they have either not worked on them as meticulously as they have on Geogaddi and associates, OR they have twiddled the knobs for too long, trying to squeeze yet another detail in there, ultimately resulting in a track that sounds rather blunt to most people, including myself. Wow that sounds much more harsh than it should. It's a great album, still, but these were a few negative things I thought I noticed. There's a very distinct possibility that it will 'click' with me at some point though, making me ashamed of what I just wrote! It took me 6 years to get LP5, so I'm not that worried. 15. I shouldn't feel challenged by such posts ... I saw it too, the entire thing (okay I did have a 20 minute conversation at some point with the sound turned down to some 5%) - literary a piece of shit. The idea could have led to an interesting, entertaining low-budget-experience, but instead they sat in that damn house all the fucking time, terrible characters etc I can't even begin... not even fun - DO NOT feel challenged to watch by what I just said!
  16. I've got a handmade version of Exai that contains no music, just the 55 grams of flour, from back when the brothers still called themselves 'Pink Floyd'.
  17. My thoughts about this: Either devote your life to activism and/or complete self-supply, or just fuck everything and eat that Ronald McDonald sandwich! Compromises don't really get you anywhere except to having a bad conscience occasionally, might as well enjoy the products when you bought them!
  18. oOoOO is coming to my city next month. I'm quite looking forward to it. I wish he would pay MYanus a visit, too! Seriously he's good, I just bought his album today, looking forward to it arriving and listening with my girl, haven't heard any tracks except Mouchette and Stay Here yet. oOoOO's quite popular with my female friends, more so than the male ones, actually! @topic: The Black Dog - Stempel
  19. It lacks you. As in, I should listen to it more often until I 'get there', or as in it needs me to fix it?
  20. I have yet to fully get into T.H., I'm surprised to see almost exclusively positive reviews, to be honest. I think the albums lacks something, but I'm not sure what it is yet. My opinion might change over time, though.
  21. Still playing Telltale's The Walking Dead, Episode 3 currently. Love this game, but it's buggy as hell! I managed to record a huge glitch in Episode 1. [youtubehd]siYixdImtME[/youtubehd]
