  1. i don't have a machinedrum but this looks amazing. great functionality & a really nicely designed interface. on an unrelated note, what were you using to film that? how did you get that really cool looking Steadicam effect where all the camera movements were all smoothed out?
  2. yeah great episode. i liked how chill they all were when their car got surrounded in the beginning. "cover your ears."
  3. as long as that Lindelof clown isn't involved, then there is a slight chance that this sequel won't entirely suck. i'm willing to torrent it and give it a chance.
  4. proto-runrepik starting @ around the 34 minute mark or so.
  5. check out the boots from the Oversteps tour. runrepik is straight out of their Oversteps live set.
  6. i always expect janet jackson to start singing in 'T ess xi' because those synth chords at the beginning remind me of her song 'when i think of you'.
  7. that wire reviewer just wanted to talk about himself, drop obscure barely related references, and show everyone how clever he thinks he is. yeah, but what about the ALBUM, man? dude should go write for pitchfork.
  8. i love the word 'flep'. i've started using it as an expletive randomly throughout the day.
  9. just gave it a first listen - first of all, super impressed by the sound design and production on here. it is amazing how absolutely pristine & clear everything sounds. the production here puts oversteps to shame. there is also an amazing spatial sense to this album in that every sound seems to have it's own place in the mix. i'm not just talking frequencies but more like everything existing in an actual physical space. there is a definite sense of foreground and background, with lots of elements panned a bit to one side or the other. it comes off almost like a surround sound effect. this album really sounds to me like ae immersing themselves in modular analog synthesis, with insane cv modulation via max/msp. the only thing i can really compare it to sonically is some of the recent analog jams by richard devine. there are just so many incredibly fluid changes and modulations and movements of all the elements. everything on the album really seems to have that analog character, but instead of going for that usual analog 'warmth' that a lot of people go for with this gear, autechre instead get this razor sharp, edgy sound that still has an organic character to it. on first listen, bladelores is definitely the standout track for me. i actually wish they had emphasized melody a bit more on Exal because the few times they did the results were incredible. going to take a lot of listens to absorb all of this but i think this could be their best work yet.
  10. WE, THE PARTICIPANTS IN THIS THREAD, HOLD THE FOLLOWING TRUTHS TO BE SELF EVIDENT: 1. MOST PEOPLE IN 2013 (ESPECIALLY THOSE INTERESTED IN THE BANDS ON WARP) GET THEIR MUSIC NEWS & ALBUM REVIEWS FROM THE INTERNET, NOT PRINT MAGAZINES. 2. THOSE WHO REVIEW ALBUMS FOR THE INTERNET NEED FAR LESS LEAD TIME TO DO SO THEN THOSE WHO WORK FOR PRINT MAGAZINES. 3. PRE-RELEASE ANTICIPATION, IF ALLOWED TO CONTINUE FOR TOO LONG, EVENTUALLY LEADS TO RESENTMENT, FOLLOWED BY DESPAIR, KORAN BURNING, & FINALLY... BOREDOM. GIVEN THESE TRUTHS, WE CONCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 1. TDR SHOULD HAVE KEPT THEIR MOUTHS SHUT WHEN THEY STARTED WORKING ON THE EXAI "ARTWORK" 6 YEARS AGO INSTEAD OF ANNOUNCING IT ON THEIR FACEBOOK. 2. EXAI SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED ON THE EXACT SAME DAY THAT PROMOS WERE SENT OUT, WHICH SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED NO MORE THAN 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE ALBUMS RELEASE DATE. 3. THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE DECISIONS AT WARP SHOULD TRY GOING ON THE INTERNET SOMETIME & LEARNING HOW IT WORKS SO THAT THIS FIASCO DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. 4. SIGNED, WATMM EXAI THREAD PARTICIPANTS FEB 2013
  11. mbv & autechre are my 2 favorite bands of all time. i don't think it's so strange to be into both. i'm quite sure they both were an influence on boc as well. this new mbv album has eased my exai fever for a bit. given me something else to absorb & obsess over while i wait for exai to dropp. those here who haven't heard any mbv, give Loveless & the Tremolo EP a spin. just give it a few listens & some time to sink in before you write them off forever.
  12. you should post track by track first impressions realtime as you're listening to it.
  13. yeah, it does seem kind of suspicious. 2 regular posters announce they have access to promos & then... gone without a trace.
  14. weren't there 2 people in this thread who supposedly had access to the promos, one of whom stated he was going 'to listen to this tonight' like 2 days ago? what happened to them?
  15. yeah, that's from the quaristice tour. what kind of idiot would try to pass off a bootleg recording with crowd noise in it as a track off the new album?
  16. fuck tdr. i'm using this for the album cover: actually, if whoever made this could replace the "day one" with "exai", that would be awesome.
  17. Looks like they did the right thing. trust me, my excitement has absolutely nothing to do with the artwork. it's a shame because there are a lot of young, less-known artists out there that would kill for the chance to design something for ae and who could make something that would just piss all over this garbage that tdr has been doing. but ae just keeps going with them because they're friends with the guy or whatever. ae should use a different, unsung artist for each album they do. they would get much better album covers + they would be giving some talented people some exposure they wouldn't get otherwise. tdr just seems too full of their own masturbatory conceptual nonsense at this point. they're not even trying anymore. time to go with a younger, hungrier artist that actually still gives a shit and wants to make something great.
  18. i don't know who to be more pissed off at: tdr for making such shit artwork or rob & sean for saying yes to it. ...still excited for the album, tho!
  19. fuck. that was by far the most brutal thing i've ever seen on tv. but what sense does it make to sacrifice an able-bodied adult to save the life of a newborn infant whose chance of survival is very low? every time they're in walker territory trying to keep quiet that baby is gonna start crying.
  20. what are you guys talking about? Day of the Dead was awesome! granted... i haven't seen it in years. maybe my opinion of it would be different now... but i saw this movie a million times back in the day. how can you not love Rhodes? "CHOKE ON EMMMM!!!!! CHOKE ON EMMMMM!!!"
  21. i wanna know how a team of writers & a very experienced director, whose sole jobs in life are to write stories and direct films, made such a crappy movie that anybody can easily & immediately see the problems with - the story, character behaviors, tone, etc... all through the movie i was going "wait... what?" at so many of the characters actions. 5 minutes after the movie was over i was thinking why was that old man, his daughter, the big weyland ship, all these extra characters who we don't know who just get killed off... why were these people even in the movie? why wasn't this just a small scientific mission with a small ship, no more than 5 or so people in the whole movie. would have been much better. more suspenseful. more focused. they spent how many years making this movie? how much money and how many people involved? no one noticed all of these problems? fuck, didn't they even do test screenings?! is this like a george lucas thing where everyone was afraid to tell ridley "no" ? at this point, ridley needs to retire. i shudder to think what he is going to do to blade runner. ...and that lindelof schmuck should never be allowed to write anything ever again. what a hack.
  22. finally saw this for the first time last night. wow... that was prettty bad. i went into it pretty neutral but it was way worse than i expected. ...which is a shame because it was a great looking film. the sound design was excellent, too. if you stripped out all the dialog, slowed down the pace a bit, and replaced the soundtrack with some of the darker 'selected ambient works 2' style tracks... it would be a great film.
  23. dunno if this is legit or not, but either way - i was listening along while reading your descriptions and it made me appreciate Move of Ten a lot more, so . you should do this for all their albums now!
