Watched S1 when it first came out and never touched the show again - is it worth it?

Well I finished S1 last night which was great. I know the finale came with a strobe warning but HOLYSHIT the strobes nearly killed me.

And then i watched s2e1 which was fine. A bit of world building and catching up with where people are now.... I shall keep going mainly because my hayfever is kicking my ass right now and I would rather be sat inside.

This one is an LP limited to 10 copies, lo-fi ambient noises and loop-based industrial noise sounds.

I think i've got some Blood Rhythms stuff, it's pretty good.  Anything loopy/dirty/noisy is usually great in my book. Just listening now to this one now, so far so good.

I got this album Existence in a trade recently, Finnish loopy noise with a smidge of gnarled synth drones

  3. Omg just accidentally clicked on this Mike Myers thing on Netflix called Pentaverate.

Its Mike Myers playing 90% of the cast (probably a covid thing as much as his ideas) and I'm not sure what it's really about.

But I think it was meant to be a comedy.

Austin Powers was fun 20 years ago. This is kinda like that but without the fun, and he's older.

I now have Photoshop, a drawing pad, and a drawing glove. But I can't draw for shit. And I've been meaning to do a sketch for the past two weeks that I haven't started because there are lots of pros out there and I keep comparing myself to them and don't know what the hell I'm doing.

I guess at some point I just need to be like "fuck it" and start drawing anyway, despite being a total beginner.

This is how I felt (and still feel) about music production.  But yeah, you just gotta dive in. Boobs.

    My new 1st world problem:

Last week I dropped my bluetooth mouse and now the scroll wheel doesn't run so smoothly. It's not bad enough that I need to get a new mouse, but its annoyingly noticeable "somtimes"..... FWP right there

  5. I'm a fan of Kate's Dark Train show - she digs out some great sounds (and she had a guest mix from me recently too so even better!)

Cracking lineup that, hope it goes well.  Wrong end of the country for me and I was up in York last week so can't do the trip again so soon...

To me, Elseq is to Autechre what Inland Empire is to David Lynch.
    And I love both...

Sean mentioned in the AMA today that Inland Empire is his favourite Lynch movie.

  7. Cool bit about Coil too.

Sleazy asked for some bits so I sent him some beats - he said they sounded finished. Lol.

Maybe Rob should have done the beats instead?

Also the Coil remix that never got released. Nice and insightful as always

  8. He might be back later! That was a very nice thing to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Ae have traditionally been very cool about interacting directly with fans, and I like that.

  9. I guess it depends what sort of music you want to make.... but a DAW can get you started on anything.

I bought a copy of FL Studio a VERY long time ago when it was super cheap (and possibly still called Fruity Loops) and I have enjoyed the free upgrades for life ever since. It is very flexible and powerful but probably costs a fair bit more nowadays.

I'm currently going down the hardware route, but only buying 2nd hand / lo-fi / broken stuff, and I have a strict one-in, one-out policy on kit.  This ethos has served me well for nearly 2 years.

  10. Found the Juanita tracks on YouTube last night, posted by Underworld, so that is super cool. You can listen to it for free, and if you really have to own the vinyl the option is there. That's quite good of them isn't it.

Then I decided to search for footage of gigs I've attended, and was surprised to find this:

My first visit to Ibiza and my first Underworld gig. Lots of mangled faces in that crowd! Weird lineup that night if I remember correctly. Craig David, Sonique, Paul Van Dyk.... And miles from nowhere. Had to walk home in the heat of the morning, have a shower and get on a coach to fly home.
