Facebook is by far not the most popular social media platform in Russia. Instead they use VKontakte. It has around 83% user base of Russian social media users. Facebook is around the 6th popular with something like 7.5 million users.

In that case, this is an interesting news article from 2 weeks ago, foreshadowing today's events

  2. Part of the Russian plan to remove electric power from Ukraine, so in the future they can sell them more gas and oil.

Imagine how petrifying it would have been, working in the power plant and hearing shells hitting the building.

why do we need to "dox" russian soldiers? I'm not concerned if it's yuri galganov from nizhny novogord or dimitri pilipenko from vladivostok.

it kind of plays into the irritating online culture of reddit posters larping as governmental intelligence assets. basically like a guy who says things like "calm thy tits" suddenly claiming they know how to incapacitate a russian SAM

Agreed its not always good that basement geeks are living out Neo style fantasies hacking into Russian databases, as you may actually hamper the abilities of the actual government agencies who are trying to do such things... but yes, anything that helps Ukraine gain an upper hand over Russia at this point is a good thing.

Hopefully Russian resources get stretched so far that civilians start going rogue and there will be mass strikes.  Like, if suddenly nobody turns up for work, Putin will just be sat there on his big table all by himself.

I still have a CD drive on my desktop and burn CDRs to listen to in my van every now and then.  Feels good.

Me too. And I still make and sell CDr's.

    Thoughts on bandcamp:

Fuck does this mean I've actually got to download all 643 releases I've paid for on there just in case they do some shady shit where I start losing stuff I've not listened too, or artist start pulling releases like on spotify.....

  5. Banging Jungle Tune from Ohm Resistance

Ukrainian Electronics discography by Timur, which I am listening to now and some of these are excellent.  It's cool to see his progression as an artist - there is an edit of Zurich 2001 by Autechre on here that is a really abrasive noise piece.  Supported.

My name is Timur, I am a Ukrainian, and Russia has sent thousands and thousands of soldiers into Ukraine. Currently we are all being bombed. I have no idea what my life is going to be like tomorrow and how much longer I have, so it felt appropriate to share an archive of my 2010-2019 works, in case I never get to do that when I'm old and it's a nice remastered package.
These are sorted chronologically except where putting certain tracks next to each other would enhance the flow (parts of the same EPs etc). Most are horribly mastered. Many are boring and self-indulgent (I'm 26 now; was younger then). However, this was my life, and this is the music I made.

I urge everyone to do everything in their power to stop Russia, send support to Ukraine, sever all ties to Russian people, kick them off your festivals, cancel your collabs.

Some important information to note. We are a sovereign country, with a culture, history, language, identity and path of our own, and we have never been "brothers" to Russians. We also do not have a right-wing government or anything resembling a right-wing faction in power – our current government is actually quite liberal and we have made great progress in human rights over the past years. I am saying this, because I know Russian propaganda is calling us Nazis.

also, wtf was the point of this?

This plane is (was) often contracted out around the globe to deliver unusual large / heavy cargo.

I have seen it a few times in the UK at RAF Brize Norton.

So, its kinda symbolic to blow this up.

  7. Finally got around to watching Room 237, followed by Doctor Sleep.

Enjoyed both, and watching 237 first made me appreciate a lot of the eggs laid in Doc Sleep (room 217, the doctors office at the hospice where Danny works etc)

So, great fan service and not a bad film tbf.

Im worried about how many americans are currently asking for nuclear war.

This is the scariest thing I have read in a long time.

I know an English family who are stuck in Moscow.  All flights have been cancelled and they are running out of money.  They have 2 kids with them! Nightmare.  Hope they find somewhere to hide this out.

  9. I hope that the russian people rise up against Putin.  I know many get arrested straight away, but theres no way the police force could arrest everyone.  After a few weeks of this the police will be strung out and tired, some may even end up being sent into the war if extra men are needed.

    Take down the Kremlin.

Optimize and prioritize your setup so that you're making music 30 second after you feel the urge.

This was my downfall for years.  I had to clear everything away after finishing as I had to use the kitchen table.

Now it's kinda easier as i've got a space to leave it set up.

Having it there ready to jam with is 50% of the battle

    louis theroux vs qanon.

every left wing documentarian can't help but profile qanon larps and theroux is no different. he goes balls deep into q-mecca (aka florida) and spends some time (before pissing off) some far right shills. that's just episode one

OK just sat and watched the first episode.  Had never heard of America First or any of these streaming guys.

But an interesting documentary and just shows how powerful the net can be for underground politics to mobilise people.

Far too many shots of Louis's face looking stoney blank or lightly confused / worried though.

Sometimes I wish he would push these guys even more, but I guess he doesn't wanna get beaten up.  His cameraman is probably also his security guard.
