  1. Big fan of E-Saggila. Also LNS. FRKTL. This album by Alina Kalancea is excellent, starts pretty subtle but goes wonderful and glitchy as it goes on.
  2. 2018, then. 2018 Calendar Album Another very enjoyable bunch of tracks here. Ramblings of a Madman Vol. 2 More stories and a really great EP here.
  3. Here's a bizarre and totally overlooked record. I'm not that keen on it, but it was interesting to revisit... Ai - Paradigmension And the first in a series of books with accompanying EPs... I'm hoping they get back onto the series soon. Maybe. Although it's not like there isn't enough coming this year. FSOL - Ramblings of a Madman Vol. 1 FSOL:Digitana - The SX-One Live Improvisations Some live-in-studio jams. 2017 Remixes and compilation tracks And some more work for Touched and De:Tuned, as well as a remix for our very own Nmesh. And that's it for 2017.
  4. Well this one took quite a while. The band's longest album. So far. Archived : Environmental : Views Had another "I forgot how good this was" moment listening to this. Can't believe just how textured the E + V discs are on it. Beautiful stuff.
  5. As it's 2022, I suppose it's a good time to have a quick look at what will be out this year. Environment Seven This will actually be a trilogy of albums, like Six was. 7.1: Rituals is due to be the next release through FSOLDigital, sometime later in the winter. This is the first 'proper' FSOL album to have its own name since Dead Cities. 7.2 is expected in the summer, with 7.3 in late 2022/early 2023. Four tracks from the E7 sessions have been revealed so far, and are stylistically very varied. Mind Maps 3 Third and final volume of this mix series released through Touched, with remixes and exclusive tracks. Record Store Day There is expected to be another album of reworkings of a classic track. Last thing I heard, the choice of track may surprise some. Mantra Second album-length single from the still unfinished Amorphous album Listening Beyond the Head Chakra. Features Paul Weller. Tales of Ephidrina Believed to be the next '90s album reissued on vinyl by Universal. Apertures My project with Brian, a mini-album is nearly complete, with a release this year hopefully. Side-projects I think there'll be a couple of new aliases coming to FSOLDigital this year. Calendar Album We'll know by the end of the month. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one. And, I'm sure, a handful of other things too. There are 20 more releases in the pipeline that I'm aware of, and they always surprise me by putting something out that I've not even heard of every few months.
  6. Finishing up 2016 today, with an unusual EBS mix. The Future Sound of London - The Electric Brain Storms 11 And 2016's remixes, compilation tracks and production work, featuring the final Amorphous remix to date, Yage remixing a punk band, and a couple of the band's finest compilation pieces. And some utterly worthless Noel Gallagher things.
  7. Touched Music FSOL Night 2 02/04/16 A few intriguing exclusives played on this show, including a couple of remixes nobody ever thought they'd hear. The Future Sound of London - Nemone's Electric Ladyland 16/04/16 The first FSOL appearance on BBC radio in eight years, with a nostalgic look back on their Kiss FM mixes. The Future Sound of London - Accelerator (25th Anniversary Edition) Another reissue of Accelerator (it had been a few years...) And then, finally, new FSOL albums. Feels like an age since Environment Five... The Future Sound of London - Environment Six The Future Sound of London - Environment 6.5 The Future Sound of London - Environment Six Plus Really enjoyed listening to those two today, it's been a long time since I last gave them a really focused listen and they stand up bloody brilliantly. Think I might be reverting to preferring 6 over 6.5 again...
  8. Starting 2016 with a bit slab of hauntology. Blackhill Transmitter - Four Synthi A - Ignition of the Sun Blackhill Transmitter - Blackhill Transmitter Blackhill Transmitter - Contained by Silence
  9. A very mixed bag today... The Future Sound of London - Mushroom 11 Soundtrack This features one of my favourite FSOL tracks, the sadly largely unheard 'The Equevelants'. The Future Sound of London - The Most Important Moments in a Life / Life in Moments An incredible book & CD package. 2015 remixes, compilation tracks and production work In which I face in the unenviable task of wading through material by Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and The Kooks, stumbling across a couple of excellent remixes and compilation tracks by Humanoid, Yage and FSOL in the process.
  10. Ah, that ended up on From the Archives Vol 3 under the name Stomach Acid. Bloody great track, though. I think it was listed as being from Environments at the time, although I think they said that about everything that was unreleased in 1994. Cheers NSS, you keep reading and I'll keep writing. Actually I'll probably keep writing either way. Today... The final Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble mix to date... The Amorphous Androgynous – A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble (Exploding in Your Mind) The Wizards of Oz The first of many FSOL nights hosted by Touched Music... Touched Music FSOL Night 1 14/05/15 And a difficult and weird sounding Archive... The Future Sound of London - Archived 8
  11. 2014 remixes & compilation tracks, featuring the first proper 'FSOL' remix in 19 years, the first 'new' Humanoid material in 25 years, and the first re-recording of a '90s track. And watch me struggling to get enthusiastic about a whole album of Amorphous remixes Also, the now familiar between-album EPs of 2015... Blackhill Transmitter - 3 Intelligent Communication - Drive
  12. A bit of navel gazing today... The Future Sound of London - Electric Brain Storm 10 Micro Edition, Terminal Radio, 24/10/14 And time for the band's first standalone book. Plus the bonus download EP that came with it. Caution: includes me gushing over one of my favourite FSOL tracks. The Future Sound of London - Artworks 1
  13. I think the confusion comes from 4/4 sometimes being used as an alternative to 'four to the floor', which is what we're going against here. Anyway, Opal Tapes is your friend:
  14. Sounds like you'll be after some... IDM...
  15. I suppose in some ways it's quite typical of a band who never do things the normal way, but this was the absolute proper 'new album' after Dead Cities, released in a totally understated manner as the fifth volume of a series that started out with archival releases. Only FSOL would do things this way. The Future Sound of London - Environment Five The other link with Dead Cities is this is an album that I had the opportunity to reassess through the writing of this blog, and discovered that I like more than I realised. Since my initial glowing response to Environment Five, my opinion dropped a little due to it kind of being the peak of down to Earth, emotional sounding FSOL as opposed to weird otherworldly soundscape FSOL, but revisiting it now it's so clear how utterly stunning this record is.
  16. 2014, the year that began with a bunch of weekly FSOLDigital releases... Blackhill Transmitter - 2nd The Jazz Mags - An Open Window Glass Girl - What's it All About?
  17. The Amorphous Androgynous – Monstrous Bubble Soundtracks Presents The Cartel Remixes Bloody hell, I've had enough Cartel this week to last me a lifetime.
  18. FSOL - The Electric Brain Storm Document Eight A very odd EBS today, very low on electronic music. This one took me bloody ages, given the obscurity of so many of the tracks.
  19. Some more Amorphous today, with the intriguing pair of Cartel albums, notably for being the first instrumental albums of the psychedelic Amorphous era, but also because several tracks contain elements that would go on to become part of the next two Environments albums. The Amorphous Androgynous - Monstrous Bubble Soundtracks Presents The Cartel Vol. 1 ...which is mostly your usual Amorphous fare, with plenty of guitar and flute freakouts... The Amorphous Androgynous - Monstrous Bubble Soundtracks Presents The Cartel Vol. 2 ...which I only now realised is actually very FSOL in places, with a lot of tracks feeling much more like the FSOLDigital side-projects and occasionally the Environments series than Amorphous. I barely gave this albums a listen on release, but this second volume really impressed me today, and I expect I'll be giving it many more listens in the months to come... The Amorphous Androgynous – Solid Steel Radio Cartel Mix (22/11/13) ...and a radio mix to promote them. And with that, 2013 is done!
  20. Just a brief one today: Andy Cato - The Coastal Path Florence to Rome (Amorphous Androgynous MPB Mix). Yes, it's not even the right title. The Future Sound of London - Lakeside. An ambient track and the first time FSOL work with Touched.
  21. Today, four EPs released together in August 2013. The first three could almost be mixed up and form a consistent album of their own; the fourth is very different. Blackhill Transmitter - EP EMS : Piano - One Sand Sound Folly - Salient Moons 1973 Suburban Domestic - Stillness
  22. 2012 remixes, compilation tracks and production work, on which Amorphous and FSOL officially go their separate ways, Brian and Gaz produce a Noel Gallagher song, and the most obscure FSOL track trickles out into the world.
  23. Yeah, even despite releasing something like 12 albums of archived material, there are still loads of great tracks from FSOL's 90s radio broadcasts that are unreleased amazingly.
  24. The Archives continue to go from strength to strength, with by far the strongest volume yet... The Future Sound of London - From the Archives Vol. 7
