I finally got a copy of the SNES version of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and it's stranger than I remembered it. It's weird being considered a canonical sequel to SMW, because it doesn't play like a Mario game at all. It's harder, and being that you play with Yoshi, the controls and mechanics take a lot of getting used to. His movement is fast and kind of slippery, which makes the usual Mario platforming a sloppier affair. Saying all that, it is pretty fun and I'm glad I finally got the cart. I only rented the game once or twice when I was in high school, and I barely played it, so coming back to it now seems like a new experience.

DOOM is one of the best MCs ever, and Count Bass D is an amazing producer. I saw him play last year in Atlanta with Jneiro Jarel. Awesome show.

Yes, Mint Nose is my second favorite track on that one. Great stuff.

Squarepusher x Z-Machines - Music for Robots: Listened to it about 10 times in a row. It's so short and not very challenging. I enjoyed it, though. I would have hoped for something less guitar-based and more insane and electronic. I feel like he had the opportunity to show "the mainstream" (since he's getting mainstream coverage) why he's The Fucking Daddy, but opted to give us another dose of Just a Souvenir. Which is fine. Dutch E Germ - IN.RAK.DUST: Pretty good record. I've only listened to it twice. The only track that stands out to me so far is Nine. Ekoplekz - Unfidelity: Another grower. It has the potential to be one my favorites this year, but so far I just like it. Beck - Morning Phase: As the sequel to Sea Change, which I've never really liked, it certainly carries the torch. It's just inoffensive music that doesn't make an impression, good or bad. Wave is a good one, though. Upon the second full listen, I just played that track over and over and turned it off afterward. I have higher hopes for the next album he is currently working on.

Not sure what you're into, but New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Luigi U are the best games on it right now, in my opinion. Darksiders II is good if you haven't played it on another system, and the Wonderful 101 is great as well. There really aren't a ton of Wii U games that can be recommended because, well, there aren't many that exist at the moment. I hear the Wii U version of Rayman Legends is the best version. Super Mario 3D World comes out on Nov. 22. I am so looking forward to it. Pikmin 3 is the reason I own that system, excellent game. Played that new Zelda for 3DS, talk about fugly, shit Yeah, the art style isn't great. I don't know why they chose to make it look like that when they can do a variation on the Wind Waker style or something that pops more. In motion, it doesn't look terrible, but it could be better. I loved A Link to the Past, but it's this new game's art style that keeps me from rushing out to buy it. A really striking art style is what usually makes me decide to pay attention to a game. I think they failed on that aspect here.

I actually loved Arkham Asylum. I played it a bit when it first came out and thought it was boring and hard (I hate stealth games). Then I picked it back up again last year and really had a great time with it. Not sure what made the difference, but I am glad I tried it out again. After I beat it, I immediately started on Arkham City, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to Asylum. There's just way too much to do in City, so easy to get sidetracked (and lost). I quit on it. Maybe I'll come back to it some time in the next year and love it.

Yeah, so I tried to get into this game, but I couldn't. It feels really off to me. It looks and sounds like a MM game, but doesn't feel like it at all. It's way too hard, and I know MM games have a reputation for being hard, but the truth of the matter is that they really aren't. With the exception of 1, 9, and 10 (and MM&Bass), none of them are as insanely difficult as this one. The enemies' patterns and attacks just seem built to frustrate. There' s one stage that starts with a possible instant death. That's not something you'd find in an official MM game. It is, however, much better than that SFxMM trash.

Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS) Ni no Kuni (PS3) Dragon's Crown (PS3) Disgaea D2 (PS3) The Wonderful 101 (Wii U) I will likely not finish any of these games. I've put 60 hours into SMTIV and probably still won't beat it.

Anyone playing Pandora's Tower? I just started it and I'm thinking it's pretty good so far. Also playing Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Darksiders II. I went back to Lost Odyssey again about a month ago and quit again. I should continue that once more.
