usually you can tell wich albums are crappy if you see the word "featuring" a lot in the tracklist

you can be pretty sure it's crappy if that artist has been making records for some time without any 'featurings'

not surprised from his recent mixes, there's some nasty grime/dubstep stuff in that chicago radio mix. but i also want him to do more dnb like the stuff later in that mix. will definitely check it out though.

Idk dudes, my friend picked this up today and we listened to it in the car and I thought it sounded pretty dope.

It was like grime/hip hop/bassline with Amon Tobin's attention to texture and detail. It's by no means AMAZING, but I dug it and I'm glad I heard it. I'm looking forward to a repeat listen to see what I think then, but my first reaction is positive.

I really don't know if I ever want to listen to it again.

i have a feeling you are one of the people to whom mr tobin is quite deliberately raising TWO FINGERS

a peace sign? I love all of his other work, I just don't like grime at all.

i just wonder if he's expecting fans of his more chinstrokey stuff to hate it and is therfore pre-emptively giving them the fingers

I don't get the feeling tobin views his relationship with his fans that way

maybe not, but i think we all know someone who does :whistling:

ok so im checking this out and in no parallel universe is it "grime" - grime is like 140 bpm, and nothing on this album cracks the 120 mark. this is an amon tobin hip hop record and i quite like it after 1 listen

GP, you should check out some grime - you might like it. it's made by teenagers with cheap gear and it's about the only electronic genre around right now that actually celebrates originality. i can hook you up with some tracks if you want

lol I don't think I want to hear it. WE must be hearing different albums though, this album doesn't sound like trip hop. It's like really bad uk rap beats. with really bad uk rap.

yeah nah i said HIP hop.

fuk im loving the track that sounds like missy and timb. good shit. i dont even care if he's taking the piss.

shame about the ce'cile track tho. she brung the slackness but the beat is so slow she sounds like shes falling asleep

good album, but it would be a great album with higher tempos and better MCs (instead of that blah crossover guy Sway)

I was hanging with a mate last night who absolutely loves Tobin's The Foley Room and the Bug's London Zoo. I said this record was basically those two albums merged and we listened and he agreed. I think he has his pot smoking record sorted for the next 6 months...
