I just saw 9 tonight. Really awesome for a 3D kids movie type of deal. It was alot darker and more violent/disturbing than I was expecting. The storyline was a bit formulaic but the setting and the art and characters are very cool. Anyone else see this one?

I don't understand all of the hating '9' has gotten...

I thought it was interesting, has a Secret of Nimh/Dark Crystal feel to it....

some big ideas for young ones....

some cool visuals for everyone...

I enjoy the world Shane Acker has created...

Good visuals but no interesting characters or story line

and the ending was very anti climactic.

The short film is more entertaining and works better.

I was very dissapointed.

Has anyone noticed the parallels between 9 and Lord of the Rings?

-Both have Elijah Wood in a strikingly similar role.

-both have a group of 9 protagonists (the fellowship)

-both have a spider-like villain

-the villain in 9 has a single glowing red eye like Sauron

-both have a menacing looking tower that searches the surrounding lands with a spotlight

I feel like there are more.

Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton . . . sounds like an eerie romper-stomper with incendiary effects to me.

I have loved those movies since before I could comprehend their events. Now I have to see this.
