When I was very young and with my parents living with my grandparents, I most often slept in the living room in my couch cushion fort. Every morning I would awake to far off conversation and the smell of breakfast. I'd lay their basking in it until it faded out, often missing breakfast. I still record and cutup voices of friends and slip them into tracks I'm making, because it's just a pleasant way to fill in space for me. Watching Gene Hackman use such sophisticated techniques and equipment to capture a conversation and later become so affected and obsessed, is endlessly beautiful to me. Apocalypse Now Everywhere a forboding face in this one. The redux mixes in some smiles and an occasional sense of relief, that I don't remember in the original cut. It is more dynamic in that sense, at the expense of exhausting the viewer. This may be appropriate though since it's (I think) expressing the horror of war, and what affect would only fleeting horror have? I love every character in this movie, except the french, and it's both sad and wonderful watching them slip away from the audience into the darkness of war. Though the redux is a bit long, and may be the only option in future releases, this will always get an annual viewing for me. The Big Lebowski What's wrong with Walter, Dude? This film captures just how meaningless and exciting life can be. I watch it not even really caring what's happening to the characters but always appreciating their reactions to what they think is going on. Like most Coen movies, it's the characters that draw me into this one, and I'm certain that I would still enjoy this if all the scenarios were entirely different. The Dude, Walter, and Donny could be the killers in Fargo, or even two and a half sides of Anton Chigurh's personality in No Country for Old Men, and the movies would only gain greatness from their presence. Dune It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. I've never read the novel and I've read that David Lynch's film takes many liberties and is hardly faithful. None of that matters though, because I have this on DVD twice, and I love it. If I were to watch this with anyone else I would probably feel embarrassed and the film would become just a pile of flaws and ridiculous acting. Watching it alone though, it absorbs me, I get lost in it. Sometimes I walk passed the actors and press my face on one of the adornments on set. I touch the practice shields and feel my forearm hum and a soreness swelling in the bone. Blue within blue eyes, weirding modules, and somehow Sting is there, waiting for the justice of a mouse shadow on the second moon. POV compilation 1 - poster *NSFW* Maybe this is Premature, but this video isn't 5 stars for nothing. I jacked off to this at least 3 times last week, and can see myself jacking off to it, and its long overdue sequel, many more times in the future. It's very far fetched i know but i love it Man Bites Dog - one of the best fake documentary movies ever made. basically a belgian spinal tap style movie about a serial killer Barton Fink - probably my favorite film of all time close contenders: Jackie Brown, Frenzy, Evil Dead 1 & 2, Phantasm, The Insider, Primer, Pee-wee herman's big adventure, Ghostbusters, Millers Crossing, No Country for Old Men, have to put Barry Lyndon down as well. I had no idea what I was about to watch except that one of my friends told me it was awesome as shit. The story is dark. Just the way I like it. There are a few occasions where the music gets a bit fucked but the story, the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful cinematography redeems it. Zodiac - A lot of people found this to be one of Fincher's most boring movies. I, on the other hand, loved it. Once again, beautiful cinematography, great acting, and a great story. There Will Be Blood - I've never been able to put words on this movie so I'm not even going to try. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Probably one of the most unique stories ever. Who haven't ever wanted to forget something? It gets me every time I watch it. I don't know what the fifth movie could be? There are so many to choose from: Pan's Labyrinth, Let the Right One In, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, The Big Lebowski, Children of Men, Adaptation... ED-209 is the shit, I also love the gore of course. Some of the best villains, Clarence Bodicker is a fucking bad ass. I also love the scene when they transition from Murphy dying and flying him in on an helicopter trying to save his life, or so it seems, then turning him into RoboCop. Also TJ Lazer. The Neverending Story: The score by Giorgio Moroder and Klaus Doldinger is amazing and I still listen to the soundtrack to this day. I love Falkor, the Rock Biter, and all the rest of the characters. I like the idea of the nothing, and how basically you need an imagination and to never really fully grow up (as his father was pushing Bastian to do, with the death of his mother no less), really resonated with me through the years. The racing snail! The Night Of The Living Dead: I love that it's black and white, the lead black guy is a badass. "They're coming to get you Barbara", The ending is awesome and still catches people I show the movie to off guard. Really claustrophobic feel to the majority of the film. ZOMBIES. E.T.: One of the first movies I ever saw, it used to scare me when i was like 3 but then all I talked about was how "he talked". The speak and spell. This film has brought tears to my eyes on many occasions and also features an amazing soundtrack. Starship Troopers: Another Verhoeven film, love the satire and the Basil Poledouris score. Gary Busey's son. Huge fucking insects. Really entertaining movie that I can watch any time. Would you like to know more? I just watched the trailer for the remake, and yeah, it looks pretty entertaining on today's standards, but the original is insurmountable in my eyes. ktait2 Posted November 11, 2009 Share Posted November 11, 2009 i'm downloading all the movies mentioned, with priority to those with attractive movie posters. hour of the wolf - 1968 i love ingmar bergman. i haven't seen the majority of his collection but persona along with fanny och alexander are beautiful pieces of work. amazing characters, and amazing detail behind each one. hour of the wolf is the best horror movie i've seen. adaptation - 2002 for the writing. princess mononoke - 1997 for the story and art. the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford - 2007 a beautiful piece of work through and through. the cinematography combined with the locations, acting, and costumes creates a really setting piece. ghost in the shell 2 i always seem to find myself watching this every so often. for some reason i can't get into Strangers on a Train or Vertigo, i know that's sacrilege when talking about Hitchcock . I do really want to see lifeboat though. Rear Window is definitely awesome, i always wondered was that an indoor sound-stage type of set or did they film it in an actual apartment/housing complex i just watched strangers on a train. in the beginning of the movie, i would agree, but something kept drawing me in. i think i just wanted to know how it ended, and didn't care so much for getting there. i hated 'guy', he always felt insanely stagnant. rear window was pretty damn amazing.
