who does that? thats unforgivable

the MSN Messenger music plugin that says what you are listening to to other people on your contact list uses the incorrect form. always bugged me.

I don't get what you're saying but the confusion lies in when listening to new music, or researching new music or lsitening to unfamiliar music in our technological age you can be easily led astray by the form that the song title/artist is listed. Is it Windowlicker - Aphex Twin or Aphex Twin - Windowlicker?

point is it's fucking annoying, stadardize that shit as Artist - song title, like it should be.

who decided that rule?

its like *song title* by (-) *artist*

just think of the - as "by"

its one extra character just to keep the "by" in it for all to easily understand.

either way i dont care. but someone should declare it one way and make it a law.

artist - song title looks better, but song title - artist sounds better.

think about it. when youre saying a song, you dont say the band name first, you say song BY artist.

Why not just end this silly debate and just have everyone say "Song by Artist?" It isn't that much longer to type and is far easier to understand for those unfamiliar with the artist's name.

artist-album-song title

you go down by increments

creator-main creation-segment of creation

this looks better and is more orderly

i have a dream that America will change from writing month/day/year to day/month/year. I know it will never happen but i would have so much respect for your nation.

I totally agree, this is a huge pet peeve of mine and bugs me to no end. I'm more concerned with who the song is by when I see a list, and it's far easier to skim when the artist name is first, followed by the track name. For instance a "best songs of the year" list or "my last 10 shuffled songs" or some shit...I'd rather see who the songs are by, and then look at the track name. Partly because I don't pay attention to track names half the time when listening to music. If the artist name is listed second, my eye's jumping around too much trying to read the artists.

That right there is the root of the problem. Today's society is too singles-centric. I'll recognize the artist's name long before I recognize the song's name, 99% of the time unless we're talking about a genre I'm not familiar with. Part of the cause is iTunes/iPods too, since they list song names first. Fuckers. I don't really mind it there though, doesn't bother me at all. It's just online and in print that it annoys me.

ANGER! GRR!

We need to get together and decide what's the best shit to use and stick to it. I'm particularly fond of Americas use of Z's in the UK we mostly use S where you use Z.

the one use of z that comes to mind that i approve of is in synthesizer... z just looks more awesome to me in that case for some reason
