alright guys i just heard back from support, i now have the rights to create a private tournament. minimum buy-in is $1.00. so if you guys want to play i can send a buck to your account or something like that. i think this could be really fun, like a super cool watmm chatroom, except you're playing poker too. who's in? you need to create a pokerstars account if you want to play. i'm thinking sometime this week-- maybe wednesday? let me know what times are good for you if you want to play.

Ooh. This is tempting. I've been hooked on Zynga Texas Holdem (Facebook Poker) for about a year now and have a balance of around $1,380,000 or so. Mostly, I play the $400 or $2000 buy-in tables but lately I've been doing the $40 ones.

I've never played for real money.

I gotta say, if I did, it would be a lot of fun playing with you guys. I may have to consider.

At this point, anyone playing for money online is wasting their time. Poker is a captured market. Big, organized crime syndicates with thousands of accounts and connections on the inside will fleece your bank roll faster than you can say "bad beat".

Billions of dollars in unregulated, easily laundered money? Could there be a better target?

Multi-account teams + insiders + huge hand history databases + the best poker bots money can buy = you lose.

i play online for two years now. after all im at +/- 0 i guess. had accounts on titan, everest and am now playing at partypoker. its for fun, especially cause i never paid more then 10$ buy-in, no matter if cash game, tournament or sit&go.

real life poker is better but more rare. here in germany you can only play for money in casinos, i never did. only with friends. most exciting was playing in asia. had my biggest payout in naga-casino in phnom penh, just a week after they opened small stakes-tables. 216 $ in two hours. when i was in manila i played nearly every day, its legal there and they have a lot of pokerclubs. nice way to get in contact with the locals.

Wednesday sounds good to me. I have play money, but I might need to scrounge a £1. I spent all my real money on those silly buy-in's.

i'm down about a grand this year. lots of bad beats and me subsequently hemorrhaging tilt money like an angry fire hydrant. there was a point where i was pretty good a year or so ago, making about 100 bucks a day for a good spell. cashed in the world series of online poker shorthanded event, beat up this chick pretty conistently when we were at the same table deep in the tourny:

when i had a big bankroll, at my peak, i would regularly play 10 cash tables at the same time, not doing to poorly at it. not losing money anyway. then i just went on a horrid spell, lost my bankroll, lost my confidence, took a break, and now here i am this year trying to get back to being a halfway respectable player. so far just no good. i fucking hate poker. i've broken more mice, keyboards, and monitors playing this shit than what is healthy.

I owned 746 million on facebook poker and I was in 112th place out of 2.4 million users. It's not for money, but yes I can play. I play in this here real life too whenever Rileys is holding a monthly tournament. Never come out with anything less then what I've walked in with. So you want to play poker? Let's dance.

We're playing at 10:00 PM GMT. That's 5:00 PM Eastern in the US. PM me if you need funds. go ahead and sign up!

A friend of mine made online poker sites his job and makes loads of money. He can easily earn as much in a month as I earn in a whole year. He's got a bankroll that would take me years to get. Tax free. It pisses me off.

He told me anyone can do it if you invest a lot of time and effort. I can't even keep up my attention during a friendly match and blow all my money at a certain point because I'm bored.

I'm a little surprised...but I guess not that much that this poker thread is really popular and that people in general are drawn to "games of chance" as Cy Toliver said at the Bella Union in "Deadwood" (what a fucking series). It's apparently not limited to us; they can get capuchins and chimpanzees to engage in gambling activities and they love it. I guess I'm such a fucking cautious guy and have so many other hobbies that it's never come 'round to my head. Maybe for the best...

Behavioral studies in rats have proved that, in general, we respond best to sporadic and variable rewards (aka the whole crux of gambling). It makes us work really fucking hard because you can rationalize the small potatoes knowing that the pot of gold is right around the corner. I know we're not rats but neurologically, we're not that much separated in actuality.

poker is far less a game of chance than most other types of gambling. a good player will beat a bad player regardless of the cards.
