Round 1 witnessed a couple of thrillers and a couple of enormous upsets. braille, a 3 seed, hit a few bumps as photosynthetic slugs, a 14 seed, took advantage of the spotlight in round 1, issuing the biggest upset since '08 when IDM itself (a number 1 seed) was bounced in the first round by a virtually unknown and 16 Black Coffee. That was the same year when 2-seed ulillillia got sent home early by 15-seed rubik's cube if you recall. But Ulillillia handled his business today as he methodically, obsessively trounced sitting down in the shower 59-38. Perhaps the largest display of power came from the southwest division as factories at night utterly destroyed strandbeest 71-26, one of the largest margins of defeat in the history of the tournament. Clearly we have a new force to be reckoned with. Crying while taking a shower and David Attenborough went down to the wire; the former sending up a last second rainmaker that no doubt elicited tears of joy from the resulting victors as Round 1 came to a close.

The games will only get tougher from here! We have an epic matchup with David Bowie in space pitted against Carl Sagan to look forward to. Can the Aspies conquer the Fibonacci Sequence? Will fractal broccoli continue to roll and hypnotize drug-induced schizophrenia? will we see a 1 seed get quenched as ice water with ice takes on girls and robots in the same photograph? All this and of course much more as Round 2 starts.... NOW!

edit: here's the bracket with round 1 results:

Fractal Brocolli is a sham, it looks great but it's got an even more bland taste than regular brocolli.

Girls and Robots in the same photograph definitely got my vote if only for the awesome thread associated with it.

Bowie lost to Sagan for me...I'm torn up inside.

woah fractal broccli acquiring a little hate i see. i mean, this

is infinitely more idm than drug-induced schizophrenia, one of the blandest and laziest concepts to ever grace this fine tournament. how DIS got past LSD in the first round is beyond me.

Fractal Broccoli is more of a psytrance vegetable

LSD definitely should have won over DIS, but F.B. is purely aesthetics, like a beautiful cover for some boring generic IDM album.

Maybe genetically modified fractal brocolli could have its taste improved.

pretty much every other person on this board is a drugged up schizo

and as much as infinity is really not what idm is about... david lynch's hair? really? at best a novel suggestion.

Just imagine the possibilities for Crying in the shower.

Could be some amazing breakcore, soothing Fehlmann inspired ambient...oh the spectrum of spectralities.

It has been bested by a concept greater that itself so I can see the implication

I know D. L. Hair wil be down for the count on this one... but immortal jellyfish may reign

if infinite repetition gets into a groove, the LHC is fucked. but LHC could figure out that infinite repetition is clearly trance.

also,

we need a 'work of MRX: a retrospective' thread
