i don't have any need for the new model yet, but i know a ton of people who will get in on this.

there are like five new versions of halo 3 and i am still fine with the original. is there an actual reason to upgrade? as a parallel example, my cell is five years old and i can't really think of a valid reason to upgrade

yeah, hey, let's drop $90 with no tangible benefits except an xbox with less dust.

i got a tv stand/entertainment center and my current 360 already looks stylin' on it.

If I was a current 360 owner, I would most certainly trade up to this model, as the chipset is more power-efficient (apparently the current 360 draws 2 watts of power while in fully off mode!), a tad quieter (5dB difference), and runs cooler, so less chance of a RROD/system failure. Power brick is smaller too, plus you get a MUCH larger HDD than what was previously available.

does not sound like $90 to me

p.s., it's kind of irksome to be expected to upgrade in order to fix a problem that microsoft should not have laid on consumers in the first place, and i still have 50 gigs left on my 100 gig drive. i only bought one that big because i presumed i could copy media to it. silly me for assuming microsoft would let me actually use the disk i bought.

what if I throw in integrated WiFi?

how about this -- given the original did not have it, i busted out my easy-flo carton of cat-5, made a cable to fit, and wifi now brings me absolutely no added value?

Oh yeah, forgot you no longer have to pay a premium for WiFi on 360... that alone is worth the 90 bucks!

again -- unless you've already sorted it out without wifi, or bought a wifi unit, because those were your options for past two years. they can fuck off. this is my conclusion

I'm considering trading my 360, a new model shipped from Microsoft in March/April due to a RROD incident, perhaps with some old games I'll never play for the latest model.

Opinions?

On the subject, Microsoft are fucking faggots for using T8 screws when Im carrying out an RROD fix for the first time. Fucks sake

Most people aren't going to get this $90 dollar deal. I have a 3 year old 360 with a 20gb hard drive, so I would get like a $130 credit towards a $300 console, whose only real benefit is the integrated wifi adapter, which I don't need.

So $170 for a sexy black box with more hard drive space that I definitely won't use?

No thanks.

I can buy like 4 monotrons for that price.

But I guess if you do get the $90 deal it's pretty sweet.

The UK deal sucks too. For a bog-standard 360, like mine (despite it's relative age) I'd still have to pay £150.

Maybe I could get £50 off that if I sold Fallout, Red Dead and some old Fifa's. But that's still quite a lot.

Oh well, I'll probably do it anyway because at the moment I'm having to plug my 360 into my laptop when I want to play online.

it's too bad the face-plates didn't take off, i would never part with my beloved Forza 2 plate. it looks so much more sexier than plain black, and the white ones were even fuglier.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat - though, it might be worth it for the 199$ model when it drops. So, sixty bucks for a fresh console with more space? Seems pretty reasonable.

you know how much fifa sells for? for fifa09 i got £2.10 - if you want a better deal sell fifa10 a week or so before fifa11 comes out, it'll be financially beneficial

as for red dead i sold my game (completed the actual game did like the online so i had no reason to keep it) for £25 (as for the £40 i spent on it)

trading games is proper day light robbery.

Oh, the cheeky bastards.

I bought the 1 month subscription for £1 last month. And it's a good thing I decided to look at my account today because they automatically set your bank details to auto-renew at £39.99. And you can't turn the fucker off without ringing Xbox and pleading with them.

What cunts.

this is why buying the cards is the best thing.. although i dont; i have a 4.99 a month thingy but im ok with 4.99 a month. and im also lucky that there isnt that much good DLC out there (untill the BFBC2 Vietnam Expantion) i downloaded TBOGT the other day but its awesome so i dont mind.

its just annoying when you have to spend £17 on 2100 MSP then you have like 400 MSP left where you cant buy anything worthwhile , apart from a hat or some stupid thing for your avatar (although i spent my dregs on specact stuff for BFBC2 (which came free with dr.pepper in usa only)).
