I've got a datasets with 8000 data points and Excel is freaking out, can anyone recommend any software that is any better? And free? When I search for graph software all I can find is mathematical graphing programs for equations and such, I need to plot data.

This is going to be the hot topic of 2011, I know it.

it is my machine I think. It takes it about a minute to draw a graph and then I have to adjust it so I can see whats going on which takes ages and it makes motor boat noises at me. Dell Optiplex GX280 with an outboard motor on it. FUCK

Looks about right Babar but my department would only be able to afford their promotional coffee mug.

I discovered something called SigmaPlot already installed, seems to be able to draw the same graphs as Excel but without killing me slowly

maybe Octave? dunno really it's like an open source matlab clone but i don't use matlab so i have no idea if it can be used for this.

http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/

also R, open source statistical analysis software so i guess (not sure either) it can do graphs and things with a lot of data.

you'd have to learn to use them tho.
