I used to always be on the lookout for extremely colorful fast-paced games.

Here is what I've come up with.

Had the honor of playing Robotron on an actual arcade system in New Jersey

Another Williams Electronics Title, and Sequel to Robotron. Entirely different gameplay.

Found it on that IndieGames website. Obviously Robotron inspired. Piss poor video quality.

Other titles I'm fond of are...

-Cactussquid's Clean Asia and Seizuredome

-Williams Electonic's Defender

-Stern's Berzerk and Frenzy

-Wizard of Wor can get pretty trippy as hell.

-Major Havoc

-Tac/Scan

Ikaruga

The main game mechanic in this blisteringly hard 2-D flight shooter is this: enemies fire either black projectiles or white projectiles. Your ship has the ability to alternate between black or white at will in order to make yourself invulnerable to projectiles of the corresponding color. There are a lot of projectiles to avoid.

Are you telling me there was a real arcade game called WAR TWAT?

I wish. Nah, it was an Indie developer recently. I should've said. Arcade-Style shooters.

Hey Wall Bird, do you have a link for PC? Willing to give that a shot.

doesn't get much more colourful than jikkyou oshaberi parodius. not exactly fast paced but its incredibly hard. also just fucking bizarre. disco dj penguins, santa claws on a unicycle juggling chicken legs... the second boss is a giant schoolgirl. another one is a boob ship. i dunno, it's out there. and fun.

Geometry Wars (trippy as it gets, good on 360 and DS)

Psyvariar 2 (if you can get a good DC ROM pleeeease let me know)

Rez (classic)

Gradius V (more spacey but the weapons are awesome)

Silpheed (not to difficult and really nice smooth graphics)

Steel Dragon EX (high speed arcade shmup)

Castle of Shikigami 2 (very playable but very challenging)

Ikaruga (the pinnacle but very hard)

Space Harrier (timeless)

I used to love the hell outta this game (probly need a saturn emulator to enjoy it nowadays)

I actually still have a Saturn lying around, but all I can find on ebay are Japanese imports (not compatible on the American consoles). I'll find an emulator one of these days.

Another game I recommend is Space Phallus. It used to be extremely difficult, but sadly, the developer dumbed it down. Dicks everywhere.

NSFW!

Thank you so much. I'm so excited to play these.

Even when his games are shit theyre worth giving 20 minutes too, just for the music and light show. I grew up on Geff Miner and his lamas =)
