Guest Promo
I know this tune ain't that amazing but it demonstrates that I was basically doing dubstep beats back in 2000 a good 5/6 years before other folks were. Its a shame this tune wasn't more developed with some chords and a little lead but my skills weren't so hot back then. Anyways hope you lot enjoy. :D http://soundcloud.com/thebro/the-bro-dubstep-funk-from-2000

Guest Promo
Yeah I'm pretty certain I did a few others tunes like this but they're somewhere on tape. Basically they were totally 80s inspired and I had this vision of creating half time latinesque cheesy 80s funk and this is a kinda demonstration of it lol. Guest Promo
Lol yeah I guess. Just wish that tune had some nice chords in it but I just uploaded it as it was.
Guest hahathhat
not sure if you're trolling, but this doesn't sound anything like dubstep !!
Guest Promo
not sure if you're trolling, but this doesn't sound anything like dubstep !! Er why do you think I'm trolling? You seem to think every thread I do I'm trolling .... weird lol. Yes I'm being a little cheaky by saying I invented dubstep but I was without doubt experimenting with half time beats a good 5 years before a lot of the dubstep pioneers were. The only thing missing from my tunes is a bit more shuffle and a proper sub bass. The short of it is when dubstep came along I automatically thought I'd be doing half time beats like that 5 years earlier. I know there is no wobble or sub in this tune but rhythmically its not exactly miles away from the dubstep cliches. You need have a bit of love man ... you got too much anger! :-)
Guest hahathhat
did you come up with this cassandra-esque precognition when you discovered "shuffle/groove" on your Roland XP-10's arp?

BCM
dunno, I did make a dubstep-ish tune once, but it wasn't very inspiring. I think dubstep is boring to be honest...boring and not danceable enough - I can't throw shapes to bass wobbles and half-speed beats. it's also now become almost a parody of itself and far far too commercialised (skrillex etc). tl;dr version: skrillex. Guest sirch
BCM kitlist, now, or it didn't happen... edit: also, track sounds nothing at all like dubstep. sounds more like a Miami Vice soundtrack. i like it tho. :)

BCM
BCM kitlist, now, or it didn't happen... http://www.envmod.com/env001.html the pubstep tack...not strictly dubstep i guess but you get the idea. edit: sorry, missed the kit list part, thought you wanted examples for some reason... the pub step track was mainly done with an Alesis Micron and a Creamware ASB Pro12 if i remember right. sold quite a lot of stuff now (including both of the above), have also owned a FutureRetro Revolution, Casio CZ-1000, MC-303 (lol) and a Korg EM-1 as well as various effects and multi-tracks and things. still have: Doepfer Dark Energy Roland TR-626 MFB SynthLite II MFB 502 Drumcomputer Jomox MBase 01 but they're in the cupboard. i'm just using my Macbook, Roland A-300 Midi Keyboard and FA-101 audio interface for music making these days. Silent Member
Dear Promo, I'm sorry, but there are tracks by scorn from the early 90s that sound more like dubstep than your tune, there's probably a bunch of old dub tracks that would win the coveted trophy for first dubstep choon. Not that it matters.
Guest LucidVibes
I think dubstep is boring to be honest, far far too commercialised (skrillex etc). tl;dr version: skrillex. are you mad, skillrex is NOT fuckin dubstep lol, its the complete opposite of what dubstep is about. You want real dubstep, listen to artists such as Coki, Mala, Distance, Kryptic Minds, Icicle, The Others, Youngsta, etc etc. And you can dance to dubstep if its actually produced and composed well ; D, just saw Kryptic Minds at a local rave, was amazing. I was just saying that the whole fucking shebang has become far too commercialised and by-the-numbers and skrillex is the embodiment of this.
