  • 4 weeks later...

they are still working out the new material, but contrary to the 10k days sessions, they have been together more on this one. hopefully it results in a more cohesive album than 10,000 days.

Fair enough… but, consider this: During a month of touring, ALL FOUR BAND MEMBERS WILL BE TOGETHER, with lots of down time and great big stages containing their equipment, as well as state-of-the-art sound systems (The geniuses!). Not to mention crack security personnel. During the sound checks, once they’ve dialed in the mix for a couple of the songs on the set list for that evening, there should be a sufficient amount of time left to work on NEW MUSIC (that is - music for the next record). So, it’s a win-win situation – at least that’s how I see it…

they need to get less trancendental. lateralus was a good enough level but 10000 days was a bit over the top. still loved it. also danny carey is constantly getting new gear and equipment and adding electronics so i think it's going in that direction. just listen from opiate to 10000 days and you'll notice a striking increase. but that won't change their style.

I'd like to hear more like disposition>reflection>triad. that is the business.

there is zero chance of reachingbthe epicness of aenima or lateralys but Im sure I'll enjoy it a lot. I just hope mjk is really committed to it because I have a feeling this is going to be their last one.

i don't think tool will ever get laid to rest. it's the nest egg for their members. they go off between albums and enjoy random side projects (notably puscifer) and then when they need more cash a new tool record emerges. i would love to see danny carrey play for primus, but since they just released an album i doubt that'll happen any time soon since jay lane fucking nailed it.

i just can't see maynard writing tool lyrics for the next album in 2019 when he is 59 years old. in fact, at their career pace of an album every 6 years, danny will be in his 60s(!). maynard has so many side projects ie: caduceus, puscifer, apc. i just don't see it happening.

i could see them finally putting together a dvd. maybe. just maybe but i think even that is doubtful. if they do, that is how they will be cashing in afterwards. maybe one more live releases like salival.

crazy to think they are in their 23rd year as a band and have such a tiny output compared to how rabid their fans are. boc definitely followed the tool business model.

i do have a feeling that this year will bring a little more than just a tool record from them though. they have to have had a few things in the works in the last 6 years.

also, this is going to bring me to my knees in a couple weeks

and i may have a public fap during pushit.

I'd go to see Tool for the 50th time if they excised all 10,000 Spoons material from the setlist. Man, what an awful album. Who knew listening to too much Meshuggah could make you sound like mallcore with some bon jovi talkbox and a rip off of third eye thrown in.

Goddamnit, MJK, if you sing about angels one more time I'm not going to buy your wine again.
