But you did hear about the UK garage electronic dance music in the late 90s, didn't you?

 

Indeed, and it evoked the same thoughts as it does now. I guess what I mean is that when most yanks hear garage they think of garage bands. Same thing applies for "funky." James Brown is funky. The Soulsonic Force are funky. My dirty socks are funky.
