edit: closet thing to mention any ideological aspect to VS, and the general conclusion is it's not political but more or less using the War on Terror as a muse - http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/magazine/dominick-fernow-guide-feature

major lols at that red bull music academy interview, Bryn Jones rolls in his grave once again. holy god

Aside that, as a serious musician I would normally say thanks but no thanks to any offer of such a fucked up mainstream company like Red Bull. For sure.

I realized it was a RBMA link after I posted it and thought "oh man this is too perfect"

my personal recommendations would be:

Atta's Apartment Slated For Demolition -> youtube

Ghosts of Chechnya -> youtube

both were reissued on It Stands To Conceal.

Thanks, these are a lot cleaner sounding than I expected, these more akin to someone like Fatima Al Qadiri than Muslimgauze in it's sound. I had only listened to "Cairo Is A Haunted City" and some of the Operation Neptune Spear uploads before this. I find these interesting despite my reservations of the project.

As long as the content of the interview is decent though, that's all that matters really. I remember Mike P did an interview for them way back, I think it was informative. Don't really remember though.

yeah, I think there's a little more diversity in his stuff than people give him credit for. incidentally I hadn't heard of Fatima Al Qadiri, checking her out now and enjoying it very much, thanks for the tip!

one can only lol at the fact that they are, unsurprisingly, 'limited edition'.

To be fair, they're hardly going to print a niche product like this in an unlimited edition.

But yes - this is how they sell records now. If it means they can keep making them, I don't have a problem with it.

and they're only gildan 185 gsm shirts - i don't know why anyone would want £19 (well, on boomkat there were - i think) for a shirt that, as a blank, costs only a few quid. you can get heavy, better-made, longer-lasting shirts for very little extra cost.

i know this cos blank shirts is pretty much all i buy these days.

well it is boomkat, they're the 'limited edition coloured edition' mail-order specialists lol

they'll probably have white ones next week, then orange, then red, all limited edition!

just heard this VS album, losing interest now. I've heard better from Regis/British Murder Boys, they really do it better.

the tracks cut out cos theres nowhere else to go, well either he doesn't know where to go which it sounds to me but

the formula is wearing thing.

the 'anthem' metal'ish theme does sound like if Mayhem were to dabble in electronics or one of Morbid Angels latest failed excursions

into dabbling. its boring as hell though, almost cheesy.

6/10 dissapointing.

yes, theres probably only 3 strongish efforts on there, yet the percussion over powers the subtleties in many parts, some of it

goes on far too long with little diversion. definitely hard percussion on this, it's the first time i've heard him sounding kind of like BMB

or Sandwell material (no surprises then Mendez is involved but under produced it to make it all cassette'y)

perhaps thats where the opinions of 'dance floor ready' are coming from yet the latter have done that 'gallop'

much better and even harder, but they know their dynamics and when to steer left, he just drives straight on and... stops.

he needs to find a different method to vent off as its been done.
