Apparently he released some collaboration album called Ghostride The Drift that I'm going to check out also. The live set i was referring to was a few years back at one of those unnamed warehouse venues by newtown creek. and it was the only time ive heard a modular synth used in a way that got everyone dancing but also emphasized the hypnotic qualities of his music. it was also in the deep hours of the morning when you start to feel loopy already so it was perfect for that vibe. hope jelinek is better for ya, curious what you think or to elaborate on the aforementioned badness hah Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

dr lopez Posted August 28, 2019 Share Posted August 28, 2019 lol no. i loved that pendant album a fuck ton. love uuuuuuuu sheathe basically the set up of both sets was fucked from the get go. people sitting in a dance club. no thanks. patricia was noodling around on a modular with his female partner (they kissed at the end of the show) managing the video i think. no rhythm just fading sounds in and out. no dancing just noodling for ever. and it was so quiet that you could hear people whispering. wtf. I was hoping that Jan would get things up and moving but no. I was wrong. It was even worse. Possibly because I was expecting a lot more. Just more modular noodling and then firing off vocal samples with wild abandon. Nothing really like his current ambient style or his earlier Farben / Gramm / Loop-Finding style. Very disappointing, I wondered if he had even prepared for this in any real way. He set up a GoPro to do a top-down view of his hands on the machines but that was an even worse choice. Now we can even see that you aren't doing much except scroll through your sample list. I left after nothing happening for 30 min. I though he might kick things up but why would he when 60% of the audience are sitting cross-legged on the dancefloor. and a bunch of iagos standing next to me. loving themselves for finding art in random warehouses all over bklyn Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
