  1. In more Ridley-related news, it's been revealed that Scott will be starting on the sequel to Blade Runner in 2013/14, and "takes place some years after the events of the first film" and "stars a female protagonist". Harrison Ford is not set to appear in the film. One of the original writers is back to pen the sequel, but I hope to god it's a self-contained story in that universe and makes few, if any references to the first film.
  2. if this: spoils as much as this: then I am really pissed. That avengers poster spoils pretty much the whole climax Yeah, I would think the Prometheus blowing up would be a pivotal moment in the film, and not something they'd want to give away on the poster.
  3. They show them in Norway? i know rite? wtf? i din't even know they had electricity in their huts I know some Cartoon Network shows are shown in other countries, but I didn't specifically know that Adventure Time and Regular Show are. Turn that finger around towards yourself mate.

    OUCH! LOL
  5. Adventure Time and Regular Show - the only two decent cartoons to watch these days.
  6. Marinated cucumbers are even better - not quite a pickle, but still has that cool cucumber taste. Another great thing on a burger is a fried egg with bacon. The only way I'll eat a fried egg.
  7. if you own the CDs of 26 Mixes For Cash, the evidence is right there. All you need to do is listen. Or if your ears are as fucked up as your head is, you could try putting them through a spectrograph. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this, but I'm gonna come right out and tell you that you are an annoying fuck, much like the religious cultists. Hey now, there's a difference between poking fun like I did and being rude and mean. Chill. to get you to disclose your hidden cache of mummified bacon strips you've held in high regard since you were aged 6? Is there a story behind this? lol No, just having a laugh at madnessR's expense. No harm intended.
  8. What would qualify as proof to you? I could probably find the emails regarding it, but who's to say I didn't fake those? Who's to say I'm not Snares, Richard and Boards combined, and this site is all a conspiracy to get you to disclose your hidden cache of mummified bacon strips you've held in high regard since you were aged 6?

"he" as in Richard, or someone else? Working on that... for all the artists. Plans are afoot!
  10. I saw a commercial last night - they're giving away almost the entire plot in the commercial! I personally don't mind as it's the journey that matters to me, but I could see how some people would get pissed.
  11. It's funny this thread came up as I was just thinking about getting some fresh ground meat from the butcher and making hamburgers... I want to see what a difference freshly ground meat has on taste and texture versus pre-ground meat that's been there for god knows how long and god only knows what's in it.
  12. this seems odd, though. would any other label have the rights to release a compilation like this though? most likely not. warp could have issued an injunction stopping the whole thing. that is unless this other label was just going to put out a white label/bootleg kind of thing. I just don't understand warp's mad scramble and panic to get this out by any means necessary before some other label put out something they had no rights to in the first place (unless they weren't going to credit it to "Aphex Twin", but there would still be an issue.) and yes, the thing about the songs being issued exclusively in japan is relevant. it's a copyright thing. they are national protections, so for the same reason you'll find uploads on youtube of 'stone in focus' and 'hankie' from SAW2, but many of the other tracks from the same album get taken down through a copyright claim. these songs were never released in the united states, so the since there's no american copyright on them, no one seems to mind them being uploaded. I think you missed the point - WARP nor the other label had 'rights' to release these tracks as a compilation (the other label was either seeking the rights or planning to release this as a bootleg), and the reason WARP scrambled to beat them to the punch was to prevent another label from making money off the Aphex Twin name (the other label could have easily released it as "Aphex Twin's Mixes Compilation" and Richard/WARP would have gotten no credit beyond any royalties due them (and it wouldn't have featured the SAW II and Windowlicker remixes). They couldn't have issued an injunction or any sort of legal remedy to stop this being released as they didn't have the rights to begin with. And you're barking up the wrong tree in regards to tracks being on YouTube - it all boils down to how protective labels want to be in ensuring they are being compensated for their copyrighted works being used. As it stands, you'll find quite a few Aphex Twin tracks on YouTube, and Warner or WARP aren't issuing takedown notices to YouTube, are they? Keep in mind the Gavin Bryars remix was released in the US, so my query about whether either being also issued in Japan was just a passing though, and probably nothing behind it. Actually I prefer their recordings. They didn't do much in the way of deviating from the recorded versions when I saw them live. really? I would've guessed the complete opposite; like their studio work was the restrained version RIP spprw, another one bites the dust, he was one hell of an afx fan though He can disagree with me or question what I'm saying - don't make me out to be some ogre that will ban someone for doing so. After all, you're still here, right? I don't think of you like that joyrex, it just kinda looked a bit like a revitute thread, a lot of wacky people write on the afx sub No, unlike a Revitute thread, this has SUBSTANCE.

heheh what washing powder does Richard use? He doesn't - that's why the handwriting on all his releases looks like it was done by a 3 year old

Oh, yeah I never thought of that. Speaking of I'm going to go listen to some 4-Lom... This one is also new to me, I'm very curious: Nice site, very comprehensive, hope it expands as much as possible. Speaking of unofficial names Joyrex, do you know anything about Martin Trezzider/Martin Tressider as a Universal Indicator alias? Supposedly it's some Cornish pirate reference? I've seen it crop up here and there. That's right - Martin Tressider was a pirate that used Cornwall as his base of operations. There was a Wikipedia article on him, but I can't seem to find it now... Trezidder Lane is mentioned in an old Cornish folk tale, entitled "St. Levan Fairies": OK this makes me interested, what's the real track title? I had an Aphex 97 US tour playlist compilation some years ago. That Gabbro or whatever it's called just seemed to fi into that 97 playlist quite well, again I could be wrong and sorry if I am but...???:) Like most of his unreleased material, it probably has a name, but I doubt "Gabbro Rod Fix" is the name Richard gave it - most likely whoever recorded the show and/or put it online is who bestowed that name on it. to be clear... around which time? 1992 or HAB era? 1992 - it was a show where Paul Nicholson (dancer/designer of the Aphex Twin logo and font) performed as well... I can't recall off the top of my head the name of the show at the moment, though. pretty sure this is very wrong Yeah, Ludd's right - I'm confusing this with the NASA "See The Light" live show in 1993 where there were three tracks named "Gib", "Gibble", and "Gib Gib" - the "Gabbro" is what threw me. "Gabbro Rod Fix" was a track from the 1997 Boston, MA USA show. You might also see "TAN 109" bandied about - Tan 109 is supposedly Dan Parkes, aka DV8 who did the artwork for On and Ventolin.

And "Gabbro Rod Fix" is not an official name, either.

  17. Well, they acquired the rights to the tracks, hence why they released the compilation. As for it having anything to do with Richard's contract at WARP - I dunno if it would count as an album towards that. Then again, that was the last Aphex Twin release on WARP, so he might have fulfilled his contract with them with 26 Mixes...

Gabbro Rod Fix was indeed made around that time, and was played at a live show.
  20. Here's the full story (since I was somewhat involved in it/aware of it at the time): Another label (don't know which one) was getting ready to release a compilation of Richard's remixes (since the majority of them were for labels other than WARP/Rephlex), and when WARP got wind of it, they did a mad scramble to get the rights/masters for all his remixes. I don't think Richard himself was involved in this (beyond his contributing the SAW II and Windowlicker remixes, and those might have been unreleased material WARP had versus making a specific request to Richard - but that's speculation on my part), and that might be why they couldn't get masters from him (that, or Richard didn't have masters for some of his remixes he did, since he may have sent off the master to the label in question when he did the remix). WARP contacted me inquiring if I had any of the remixes on CD (specifically the Gavin Bryars remix and the Heroes remix), as the masters were unavailable or wouldn't be available in time to meet the deadline (this may also explain the minimalist artwork, not to mention the very tongue in cheek double meaning of the album title). Oddly enough they had time to press a promotional chocolate coin, though. I unfortunately at the time didn't have either of those releases (wasn't really concentrating on collecting the remixes at the time), so I imagine they ended up indeed using MP3 audio of the tracks in order to get them on the compilation. I couldn't ask the community on WATMM at the time as I was told to keep things quiet since they were obviously trying to beat the other label to the punch. Was I able to do so, I'm certain one of us on here would have had either or both on CD so we could have gotten at least Redbook Audio versions of the tracks. Both the Gavin Bryars and Phillip Glass Heroes remixes are strangely both on Point Music releases in Japan (Gavin Bryars remix did come out in the US; the Phillip Glass remix was on a bonus 3" CD for the Japanese release of Heroes Symphony) - I wonder if there were issues in getting clearance to use these (especially the Phillip Glass remix) from Point Music?
