  1. World is changing - the new NPR theme song surprised me when it came on; I thought it was some new programme! Poor Grumpy Cat - she brought light to the internet.
  2. Indeed - the new software offers a lot more than what the previous CHATMM did.
  3. Solution: Use a standard browser like Chrome - I cannot ever remember seeing FOUC (Flash of unstyled content, which is what @htor is showing in his screenshot, where all the supporting scripts are still loading while the HTML that makes up the page has already loaded) since the forum upgrade, or prior for that matter - all joking aside about Firefox, could it be your settings (are you forcing no cache, although so am I), or possibly the quality of your internet connection (I see you're on wireless). There are some optimizations I can do, but for the core scripts that drive the forum, that is more under the vendor's control. I'm pretty active on the vendor's support forums, and I don't recall seeing any other users reporting this issue. Thanks for the helpful suggestions though in potentially solving it! I think the 'skeleton' loading method is best to handle FOUC for script-heavy apps like this from a user experience perspective. Today's forecast for Hell, lower ninth circle district: Hot, no signs of any hard freezes happening anytime soon
  4. Geez, you kick puppies for fun as well?
  5. Ah, I see - I would think that’s a beneficial feature...
  6. We will all have WATMM League Edwardian-style cricketeer trousers and jumpers.
  7. I see what you mean... I am assuming this is the 'WATMM After Dark' skin (might be on other skins too) - looks like there is a drop shadow of some sort on the non-active pagination numbers. Yes, the WATMM logo (which is about to change) has a outer glow applied to it, which is why it looks blurry - I'm hoping I can use an SVG instead of a PNG, but I think I just need to make an @2x version so it will scale correctly on HiDPI screens. Yes it does - the setting is 2 minutes. Let's see if the new addon fixes the SoundCloud embeds: YAAAS!
  8. Yeah, I hear what you're saying as well, but we're getting onto a slippery slope here with the 'how much is enough over x amount of time' territory... I think for now, until we can all come to an agreeable solution to members vs paying members, I'm going to put the Downloads back for anybody to download if they have a current account (subscribed or not).
  9. Damn, you still remember why CHATMM was lost! That'd dedication! But here's the twist - your dad never left; you just lost your way. Come back to my bosom, little lamb. Return to the flock. *retches* Ah, okay. I can continue now
  10. Yes, but its... not CHATMM! Not really CHATMM; not the full-flavoured, rich, delicious CHATMM that left you with no regrets. Discord may have shiny lipstick and look at you alluringly, but in the end you're left empty and feeling used... almost unfaithful dare I say?
  11. Yeah, things change - you were going through withdrawls when we lost it before...
  12. No; I don't see any need to raise subscription prices with this potential increase in annual costs. The benefit is Discord is not integrated into the forum, and many people liked the CHATMM format. Plus, as you can see from the feature list, it would provide a lot more than CHATMM and possibly even Discord does now. And if I didn't communicate it clearly, the first year costs would be 50.00 per year That's part of the reason for this proposal - the WATMM Discord is just too disconnected to the forum (even with the posts integration), plus people want the CHATMM experience back (I believe you were the most vocal proponent of that)
  13. I don't think I have ever phrased it like that - I've always asked everyone to contribute to keep the site going, and my contribution is taking responsibility to maintain it, and deal with you lot from time to time. That's a lot of the reason I haven't gone further with the site and why in part the upgrade took so long - finding free time out of my schedule and life to do it can be difficult at times. I don't expect any sympathy for that, but at the same time I want everyone to realize that like any hobby, it takes time beyond the financial commitment. I changed downloads to only paying members because going forward, that is all there will be - I hope that all of you would come around eventually and contribute something considering the unusually long time some of you have been coming here - it's obviously something of value to you, so why not give a little back besides your participation in what makes this place so great to begin with? I see your point, and appreciate the constructive criticism. I think maybe it's time for a 'grandfathering' of members to bring everyone into parity? I just don't like the idea of some people never having paid for something they're enjoying and benefitting from while others are footing the bill. My intention wasn't to take anything away - simply provide features and services that do cost money to users who are paying to support them. I will admit I didn't think this through enough before putting in place these changes. I could have done better.
  14. The addon costs 50.00 and then 25.00 every six months thereafter, but that would be absorbed into the monthly hosting/software costs we already pay via donations and subscriptions. Just being transparent about the cost so it is not seen as a "well, it's free so why not" option like Discord.
  15. So as some of you may recall, we lost our dedicated chatroom, CHATMM due to the forum provider getting out of the dedicated chatroom providing service. There were some potential replacements, but all were costly and didn't offer the same level of integration that we had with CHATMM. So, as a stopgap solution, a suggestion was made to use Discord as a replacement. Discord has been fine, and recently with the forum upgrade, I have been able to leverage addons for the forum to more tightly integrate it into the forums (new topics get a link in the Discord, for example). It still doesn't 'feel' the same though, and it's still very disconnected from the site. There's been a new development and now there is a potentially viable replacement chatroom for the forums that I have been researching. According to the developer, it offers: Main Chatroom Features Create unlimited chatrooms Choose what groups can view the chatrooms Choose what groups can chat in the chatrooms Choose what groups can whisper ( read below for the whisper feature ) Choose what groups can download attachments Set the amount of messages to be show in each chatroom Chatrooms uses the IPS editor for the messages Full ckEditor toolbar with all your add-ons will work including the new giphy image add-on Full ability to upload attachments directly to the messages from your PC or mobile phone Supports all of IPS' embedding features of videos / images and your own website link embeds Live updates of new messages using Ajax refresh Choose to play a sound when a new message gets posted Live updates of the online user list using Ajax refresh Choose to play a sound when the online user list gets updated Whisper ( Allow members to send private messages to multiple users ) Choose to show the new messages from either the top or bottom of the message list Members can toggle the sound on or off for each chatroom Members can toggle to hide/show the online user list Allow moderators to edit the chatrooms on the front end Directly embed videos by uploading the video file directly to the editor Moderator Permissions Can edit messages Can delete messages Can use the ban list Each chatroom has their own ban list what moderators with permissions can edit to ban certain members from the chatroom Choose from 2 different style chatrooms with a standard or a more compact view of the message list Choose to display only the message senders avatar Choose to display only the message senders name Choose to display both Add a widget to any page showing a list of chatrooms and the amount of members online in each one Member Chatrooms Members can create their own chatrooms Member chatrooms will appear in their profiles in the tabs section Member chatroom owners have full control of the ban list for their chatroom You can choose if and what user groups can delete messages from their chatrooms via the ACP Bots Create unlimited bots to post messages when something happens on your site Select a member to send the messages ( You could create a bot member via the ACP and use that ) Each bot can be set to post in different chatrooms Applications supported for bot posting Calendar Create a message when a new event gets created Create a message when someone comments on a event Create a message when someone reviews a event Downloads Create a message when someone uploads a file Create a message when someone comments on a file Create a message when someone reviews a file Forums Create a message when someone posts a topic Create a message when someone replies to a topic Gallery Create a message when someone uploads a image Create a message when someone comments on a image Create a message when someone reviews a image Lottery Create a message when a new game is created Create a message when a game has been drawn Create a message when a member claims a winning ticket Media Uploader Create a message when a member uploads a image Create a message when a member uploads a video file Create a message when a member uploads a audio file Create a message when a member uploads a document Members Create a message when someone registers on the site Members Shop Create a message when a user purchases a item Nexus Create a message when someone reviews a product Random Messages / Quotes Create messages / quotes from a stack setting allowing you add as many as you want and the bot will post random ones each cycle Sports Betting App Create a message when a member places a bet Create a message when a member claims a winning ticket Standard Message Create a message via the editor and the bot will post the messages each cycle Standard & Random Message Cycle Settings Run cycle every 5 minutes Run cycle every 15 minutes Run cycle every 30 minutes Run cycle every 60 mintutes Run cycle every 3 hours Run cycle every 6 hours Run cycle every 12 hours Run cycle every day Each application you pick you can select from a list of their categories / forums etc for when the bot should send a message, this can also be set to all categories / forums etc If you don't have any of the apps installed above the settings will not show for you to enable them If you delete a chatroom from the ACP any bots linked to that chatroom will also be deleted, this is to stop any errors that could be thrown if the chatroom don't longer exist and the bot does More applications will be coming to the bot section in the near future including some 3rd party applications Widgets Show chatrooms in widgets allowing you to place them all over your site allowing members to chat on other pages These chatrooms can be toggled to be hidden or shown ( Of course it is shown by default ) Shows a list of chatrooms and the amount of users online in each of them Apologies for the formatting; I can't be arsed to bullet indent all that and not strip away the formatting so it matches our posts.
  16. I'm all for an open, honest discussion, but please don't go and do crap like that and try and make a fool of me. You have a compelling reason - state it.
  17. Because it's fucking subversive, and it's basically a middle finger to me. This is my site, not a public utility/service that anyone can do what they wish with.
  18. Oh, come on - I'm not charging people to download the files (or any files) - I'm offsetting the costs of hosting the files so people can download them! You can't download the files without having an account on WATMM, all accounts since August 2013 are paid accounts, so why is this an issue? I seriously cannot understand how any of you complaining about having to pay to support the site are mostly the people that have never or hardly ever contributed! It has to the the principle of it, right? Surely 3.00 USD A YEAR isn't going to put anybody out... you've gotten so accustomed to getting something for nothing online that you haven't stopped to realize it costs somebody, somewhere, eventually. Did you know that Rob and Sean both paid (voluntarily, I might add with no prompting from me) prior to doing the AAA on WATMM? Good enough for your musical heroes, but not for you, eh? Please PM me or send a support request and I will honour any such requests.
  19. But you're both okay with using the site for close to a decade without considering the costs to run it, nor the fact others have paid so you can use it?
  20. BTW, I have reenabled Tapatalk for those who just can't bear to use the forum on a mobile browser ?
  21. One of my favourite games of all time. You should also check out Blaster Master Zero and Zero 2 on Switch if you have one. Just as good as the original game - better in some ways.
  22. Absolutely - I checked, and yes, I am still corporeal. Thank you for ensuring I am not a phantom.
  23. Yeah, got it ages ago from a former Rephlex bod...
