  1. i wouldnt compare syro with soundcloud dump. Yes, syro is biger, clever, more detailed and all that, but old stuff is more...emotional and natural, some say "it has soul", how funny it wouldnt sound. Syro is so cold, mathematical and technical at times...but at no means it's boring. Each of em (syro/dump) makes you appreciate them very differently. It's like comparing beatles to hendrix. As an musician, i respect syro very fucking much, its an absolute masterpiece, what he's doing with analoge gear is beyound words. But as a human, i prefer his old stuff. Syro is cold, mathematical, clever, less emotional, less natural, has less soul than these 20 +/- years old recordings that were made when he was between 14-18? Poor Richard, he has not evolved one bit in 20 years! :) He should have stuck to his old formulas... Wow. To each his own but I think Syro is incredibly warm most of the time. Complex yes but xmas eve cold? (for example) That is one of his most heart on his sleeve tunes he has put out I think. And I'm only comparing the fact gear is used here as well as his old stuff. He has clearly evolved with his production. I'll also agree the older stuff can pack a more emotional wallop but Syro definitely has a spirit of its own just not a dramatic one.. I would say a nostalgic playful one. I think he was being sarcastic, clearly... lol syro is one of the warmest records I can think of
  2. Haha. Are you sure you just walk it 'around the neighborhood'? Or through neighborhood. I guess it's dark at night, huh? It's my usual route.. I live in a calm town neighborhood with a bunch of family types. It's not ghetto or sketch really. Just can't trust other people's dogs entirely. I see. Could bribe help? Just take a peace of sausage next time you go for a walk. Dogs love sausages! wear a cup fiz! dogs love sausages!
  3. I love the noise/hiss in Syro, especially on tracks like 4 bit... edit: blasphemy confirmed lol
  4. Small chance, Richard explained why he did this instead of releasing a compilation in an interview right before the Syro release. From OOR mag (third time posting it in this thread but what the hell): I recently tried to craft an oldschool compilation. I literally have hundreds of tracks from around Selected Ambient Works 85-92. But after three hours I already gave up. I tried it a few more times, but I just cant get trough that pile of music. After three hours I dont even know why I'm doing this, it feels so pointless" Was this for your own pleasure or for a commercial release? "For an release. I'm thinking of releasing a boxset. But it feels a bit like you died, isn't it? That's what I told Warp. They said: you should put a gravestone on it! But I have already done that.[on the cover of the Girl/Boy single you can find a gravestone of his stillborn brother who would have been named Richard James]. I'm not sure what to do with it. Rephlex stopped, so that's not really and option. I still have some other ideas though, maybe I'll release some stuff anonymously. That's always fun, to see what happens. I think I'll go that way." Besides that, if the rumour by Philie T (look a few pages back) is true, he could continue using the SC for uploading more tracks as the months go by. Who knows :)? I forgot about that bit of the interview, thanks for that. Surprised this is the first time I've seen that part of the interview come up in this whole thread.
  5. Very nice these, thanks :)! I can hear a significant difference between the originals and Bambi's mastered ones. I guess it might do some good to go through the collection and master it carefully, there's a few tracks that could use some work I guess. edit: I didn't initially think I'd want to master any of them but this has changed my mind a bit.
  6. This. I feel like I would be able to throw together another albums worth of material similar to SAW1, another AB, another etc etc, just the way it is. I think mastering the tracks differently takes away from certain aesthetics of the period. And I don't believe when Richard said none of the tracks were mastered at all. I suspect many of them were. Compare most of the soundcloud stuff to something like Organ. Organ sounds like it was fully sequenced and never mastered. The other tracks (most) have actually decent sound quality... Don't they? Can you imagine taking something like ventolin and just high shelving it (-gain of course)...
  7. The problem is it actually is a highlight because it's fucking excellent. I guess not hearing a total of 3 or 4 tracks that aren't widely distributed anymore means I can't aphex. Oh well, I won't be losing any sleep over it. With the praise both this one and Space Beat are getting, I imagine a lot of people are going to be digging out 26 Remixes and discovering some underrated gems. 26 mixes is an amazing collection, oft overlooked IMO. yes indeed ! the mike flowers pops remix is an all time fav ! The Nine Inch Nails remixes are beautiful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My favourites are probably: Gentle People - Journey (aphex twin care remix) The beatniks - Une Femme N’est Pas Un Homme (Aphex Twin Mix) Nobukazu Takemura - Let my fish loose (aphex twin remix)

  9. It's a blue screen. I like this colour but I wouldn't wear it on a shirt, it's a bit bright. I'm not sure this particular colour of blue is called, but it's pleasant.
  10. Yeah, sorry. It was scrolled all the way to the right for some reason, couldn't see "magnet".
  11. That's actually my favorite of the lot so far. amazing track 2tone too, hasn't gotten much lovex and is sooo good! Love that track! SAW1 outtake?
  12. That's actually my favorite of the lot so far. amazing track
  13. I was told by a reliable source when CCAI came out that it wasn't all we would get in 2015, "keep an eye on him this year ;)" is what she said. And she told me about CCAI in mid December so I tend to believe her. edit: though admittedly maybe she meant this soundcloud dump. I'll have to ask her.
  14. (Philie T = http://www.discogs.com/Manor-Boys-Chelmsfords-Most-Wanted/release/850760 ) :psyduck: waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I've never even heard of that manor boys release
  15. i still believe warp has something to do with this Me too tbh. Little voice in my head is telling me this is aphex' year.
  16. How pissed off is Warp right now, this could have easily sold 10000 boxed sets (amon tobin sold 4000 at $200 a pop so...).... Thanks Richard D James! AWESOME!
  17. Does this mean he's going to re-upload every track in higher quality, or are the high quality versions all sitting there already and he just needs to enable download? I'd say it was the latter, but then why does he need such internets, and why wait till Feb 7th? looks like he's working on it right now tbh, with him dumping all the trax into one playlist.
