  1. The thing I love about it too is the modernized game play. Monsters actually "lean" after being killed close to walls, you can do sideways barrel rolls (a la Star Fox 64), hot key frag grenades, and even dual-wield some weapons. I noticed the zombies actually fire their guns erratically for a brief second when they're killed too, much like the enemies in the first F.E.A.R. game. And there's so much more... Some of you can knock PCs all you want, but one major advantage they have over console gaming - mods.
  2. Brutal Doom version 20 is off the damn chain, finally released today after 18 months in development (for this version alone). This mod basically takes a classic shooter and not only makes it even more violent, but gives it an overhaul to overall gameplay as well as new sprite animations, while retaining all of its core qualities at the same time. Only available for PC tho, obviously. If you try it and enjoy it, be sure to thank the guy who is its sole developer. Gotta say this has been a good week for gaming news, along with the announcements of XCOM 2 and Fallout 4 as well.
  3. Yeah they kind of reminded me of those Chozo ruins in the Metroid series. You'd think if the Dwemer didn't go extinct or whatever the world of Skyrim would be much more technologically advanced. I guess it's the Elder Scrolls equivalent of well-preserved Pre-War tech in the Fallout series. Ah, it's from the people who did Gemini Rue. I really need to play that game again now that I have an iPad Looks like the same style as one of the old LucasArts adventure games from the early '90s. Primordia is another one that came out a couple of years ago, which is more of a post-apocalypse setting.
  4. All this Fallout talk...might be time to get FO3 back out. Almost seven years later I still never completely tire of it. And yes, VATS is still awesome. Very handy when you need to turn Feral Ghouls' heads into spaghetti sauce.
  5. Steam Machine? Uhhhh.... http://www.alienware.com/landings/steammachine/
  6. I heard from my coworker/buddy that Skyrim's level cap is 81, but I think 54 was the highest I've gotten to. Combat goes more smoothly once you figure out how to hot-key your weapons and powers, but I didn't figure out how until two weeks after I started playing, since it wasn't made obvious in the game. Also there were too many god damn Draugrs in Skyrim. There should've been a Draugr zoo where you can watch them lumber around trying to dry-hump each other and you could feed them live Mud Crabs, and you could set them all on fire if they tried to escape. I'd like to see Fallout 4 have at least the degree of exploration opportunities that Skyrim did, along with realistic combat.
  7. I think I've lost at least one stone in weight in the past month from change in diet. My original plan was to go vegan for reasons I mentioned in the FWP thread about three weeks ago but that fell through. However, I have still managed to avoid beef and pork - same with soda beverages and most desserts. My job's been more physically intensive lately too, so all of these factored into my recent weight loss I think.
  8. Yeah even though there's no XP system you'll find yourself upgrading your gear pretty much after every time you complete a main quest. I also like the fact that individual weapons are quite versatile for as many as there are, thus allowing you to fight more efficiently with a smaller arsenal. I prefer this to becoming a walking pile of guns like in classic shooters, since it adds to the realism. But I've rambled on about this game enough.
  9. Yeah pretty much. If you decide to avoid Clear Sky you wouldn't be missing much. But definitely check out Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat. SoC has some similarities to FO3 but actually pre-dates it by a year and a half. As before, it's worth checking into the mods as well, especially the Stalker Complete mod.
  10. Metro was made by the same guys who made S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? I didn't know that, but it makes perfect sense. Yeah S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans are almost unanimous in the sentiment that the second game is the least impressive. I tried it myself and I can see why. SoC and CoP are both legit tho, and there's plenty of mods out there for them too.
  11. Somehow I think FO4 might be based on Skyrim's game engine, but I could be wrong. Regardless, it would be nice to be able to sprint and have special powers or abilities, with more realistic combat. And if the environment looks as lush in-game as it did in the trailer, that'd be nice too. That was my exact impression when I first played Bioshock Infinite, but I'm still optimistic about the final product. Ever play any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games? They're all PC-exclusive, but in the first one you actually go to Chernobyl, while still being open-world.
  12. Damn page isn't loading for me. But if it's what I think it is...
  13. Seems like little more than extreme paranoia to me. I guess if nothing else it provides entertainment value.
  14. XCOM 2!!! http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/01/xcom-2-announced-ign-first Another thing to look forward to later this year, even if I'm the only motherfucker on WATMM who cares about the XCOM franchise.
  15. Ohhh man Ice Planet...that brings me back. 1993 if I accurately remember
  16. I still remember several months ago when I scanned some photos from when I was in NYC in 2003 which I took with one of those disposable Kodak cameras (which probably don't exist anymore). I uploaded those photos to FB after I'd scanned them and FB actually recognized the people in the photos and asked me to tag them, matching them with my friends, even tho those photos were taken before FB even existed. Anyone else have a similar experience scanning and uploading old photos?
  17. Same. Mine's got me on FB, which is fine I guess. But if she finds me on WATMM, god help me.
  18. For the most part I share the same sentiments. First signed up to FB back in February 2008, but the more time I spend on there the less interest I have and the more I question why I stay there. I guess it's mainly to keep in touch with current events around the globe, although many of these news outlets have become increasingly biased and sensationalized and seem to have lost their original purpose as keeping people "in the know" by being objective and transparent with the goings-on in the world. But I digress. But I also stay because I might risk cutting ties with most acquaintances in my life if I terminate my account, much like Atom mentioned. But it's not like I talk to most of these people on my "friends" list, so it may not make much difference IRL if I deleted it anyway. It's been nearly two months since I posted any status update though. I see mostly boring shit being posted by the people I do know. I thought about holding on to it in case I wanted to upload pics or vids of the AeNA tour in four months, but I suspect it would go over most people's heads. They'd only care (or at least validate) if I were to get married or have kids or some bullshit. So FB, I might keep, but continue to maintain a low profile. Twitter is a bag of dog shit, so I couldn't care less if my account got hacked again.
  19. she GETS it. Dark Seouls I won't rule out the possibility that Bloodbarn she's spent many years Bronami working in public service (fuckin Microsoft IME)
  20. yes wi can [youtubehd]Gf1pJ-7GNV8[/youtubehd]
  21. Also Squee - maybe consider prospects for new employment? Your workplace sounds as civilized as a middle school cafeteria.
  22. Don't forget to include Fruit Loops cereal in the deuce bag
  23. Just finished second playthrough on Wolfenstein: The New Order. Sat thru the ending credits and lo and behold...Richard Devine pops up as one of the guys who worked on the original game soundtrack. Don't know why I didn't discover this the first time. Welp, dunno what to play next, after six straight months of almost exclusively shooters (not sure if Skyrim counts). Might be time to focus on making music again. Feels like it's been a long time.
