First the economist ran a less-than-skeptical article, then 3 hours later they did their job... It sounds like the dude doesn't understand 'selfish mining', which was a big red flag to people who DO understand it (i certainly don't)
  3. Check out @NowThisGIF's Tweet: Link to Twitter post of it...best i could figure out on this android...

Yeah i can't believe how quick the Economist was to buy it... (it's called "The Economist" ffs...they should have math and currency experts or consultants, right?) Everyone trying to scoop and not get scooped...like a race to the bottom, profit motive turns journalism into tabloidism Some were speculating that he was trying to build (read: steal) a reputation in order to secure loans...essentially a white-collar Nigerian prince scam...i mean, who the fuck knows what his motivation is...
  5. Did everyone see the gif of Cruz elbowing his wife? (Sorry i cant find a link url to copy/paste)
  6. That makes me wanna study the evolution of language...I'm guessing there's a Bill Bryson book or other on the subject...?
  7. Ypu're probably right. I guess i meant the political equivalent of those guys. (Yeah John Nash was terrible at pretty much everything save for theory...his sketchy demeanor would've been terrible for diplomacy, i imagine) But even then, maybe the charisma stuff is necessary as well. Imagine if MLK talked and acted like Vincent Price...would people have rallied around him? I guess lately i'm just disheartened by the pragmatic realities of the world.
  8. Btw for anyone unfamiliar with a Maine accent: P.S. the stereotypes are all true...my grandparents run a lobster/fishing/seafood micro-empire
  9. Yeah i mean i learned Britspeak from Mary Poppins, Spinal Tap and the Office. I am kinda obsessed with some of the colloquialisms, though, like turning body parts into verbs (to "neck" a pint, for instance). I'm surrounded by Mainers and everyone talks like a Mainer with a Maine accent and it's kinda horrifying actually. I have a smidge of dialect-based classism where the thicker someone's Maine accent is, the less intelligent I think they are. There's something about the word "ayut" that chills me to bone.(Luckily I didn't develop a Maine accent.) Anyway my point is I am supremely envious of how Brits talk.
  10. Thats bloody bullox innit m8 the right cheek on yee, yah? bloody hell i havent got time in me shedule for such bullocks, yah? *commits pisstake in the lift but then right legs it when the bobbys come, yah?
  11. Apparently this has been circulating unironically https://i.imgur.com/WTjAfmK.jpg
  12. Yeah i guess if you go back a couple hundred years some of the early presidents might've been awkward weirdos...i dunno. I dunno about Nixon. He was a 'good talker' (albeit a sweaty one)...allegedly, people who listened to Nixon vs JFK debates thought that Nixon won.(those who watched it thought JFK won) I guess i'm talking about a stuttering savant with zero charm who has amazing ideas. I'm talking like a John Nash (without the hallucinations perhaps), or a Stephen Hawking...not some slightly-awkward normie.
  13. I was just listening to a social psychologist talk about how there is zero correlation between 'good talkers' and 'good thinkers'...yet politics is a talking contest We have yet to elect an awkward weirdo with great ideas
  14. *stares at screen, waiting for Triachus's post to load*
  15. I should have remembered the details based on a conversation i had with Ms LimpyLoo about a year ago: LL: i think im prediabetic MLL: i think you're catastrophising LL: *pulls up prediabetis stats* MLL: oh shit (Dramatized for concision)
  16. Looks like "only" 1/6 Americans have (been diagnosed with) diabetes...perhaps 1/5 including undiagnosed
  17. Dammit my memory sucks Okay so the stat i was thinking of was between 1/3 and 1/2 of Americans are PRE-diabetic http://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/#5a1a781d16f4
  18. Wait, for real? Yes, this one of those stats that seems like it couldn't possibly be true, but is...like how 1/3 of Americans are diabetic.
  19. Doublename, you were so right about the French Returned (the European versions of things tend to be better than its American counterpart...American stuff, even the slow-breathing stuff, is always more ADHD) Just bought Rick and Morty season 1...see yall on the other side
  20. Oops here's the real vid with the good stuff right up front: (I mean...just imagine if Bernie and Hillary gave speeches alongside Anjem Choudrey...and them came out smiling to shake his hand...)
  21. Did people see this or did it fly under the radar? That is some fucking scary shit...
  22. Yeah Huckabee is indeed a fascist He's like Rick Santorum (he's the one who wanted to outlaw masturbation, right?) These people want to legislate and micro-manage everyone's behaviour to comply with their personal fundamentalist beliefs "Christian Sharia Law" is pretty spot on I would ask how people like this can get so close to becoming "leader of the free world" but the answer is very plain: challenging others' religious beliefs is taboo in this world and so you get awesome things like 40% of Americans being creationists in 2016 While a large portion of the left continue to enforce this taboo /annoying anti-religion rant of the day
