  1. could i get some recommendations for more like this ridiculously good record? or music that it references? i'm at a bit of a loss i see people recommend stuff like the german school, but i have no idea where i start
  2. ^ i'm sure dahshat has an absolute banger of a disco title theme. andy votel used to play it all the time, might have seen a release on FK now that i think about it goddamn i need to watch some hindi horrorcore
  3. martyrs is a very, very heavy watch... prepare yourself! i didn't personally like it that much, not really to my taste, but it's undeniably great and well-realised nice to see mentions of hereditary. for sure one of the best recent horrors. endless love for toni collette. i think the pacing went wild towards the end (and the climax) which was a bit jarring. tbh the family drama was almost more disturbing than the ghastly antics... just superbly acted all-round
  4. you should check out lake mungo! it's more of a slow-burner and a mediation on grief rather than a straight up shocker. but it's truly disturbing and honestly still haunts me it's shot in a faux-documentary style but there's a found footage section and jesus christ *THAT* scene will fuck you up, promise
  5. what horror/slasher films are you guys planning to watch on the run-up to halloween? any favourites? would love some recommendations or indeed just to start a comfy horror film thread my watchlist at the moment: Halloween I, II and 2018 Phantasm (1979) Suspiria (1987) Blood and Black Lace (1964) The Hills Have Eyes (1977) Evil Dead I & II, plus Army of Darkness Romero's early Dead anthology - Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985). maybe Zombi 2 (1979) too! Carpenter's The Fog (1980) For campy cheese factor - Chopping Mall (1986), Brain Damage (1988) and Frankenhooker (1990) would love to marathon the Friday 13th series if i can find the time, too, but i might save it until the awesome Scream Factory box releases (includes lost gore footage!) i started a little early and watched Re-Animator (1985) today. fucking classic! at once tense, shlocky, hilarious and even a little spooky at times, all with that lovely low-budget feel
  6. dan is super grounded and has a great sense of humour. really happy for his success - dude deserves it! i'd recommend checking out his RBMA interview to anyone who hasn't already. real insightful and the guy knows his stuff re. music, art and philosophy
  7. anyone else get an email from the ninja tune newsletter saying to call a phone number? a creepy modulated voice picks up and plays you 45-sec clips of the tracks. pretty dope
  8. could someone be a pal and hmu with the 88 mixtape .cue file so i can split it into tracks?

  11. for those interested: the guys behind Tough Riffs fanzine and Seven Metal Inches have put together a huge book chronically the tape trading/fanzine scene from 1984-1994 looks dope! https://sevenmetalinchesrecords.bigcartel.com/product/tape-dealer-1984-1994-decade-of-demos-tape-trading-and-fanzines-book

  13. "what's all this about young philip?"
  14. anyone into vatican shadow? the brand new tape is a split/collaboration with salford electronics (david padbury from the grey wolves) pretty dope
  15. whitehouse are great, few projects set my brain on fire as effectively most people will point you towards their "digital era", in particular Bird Seed as a starting point, but i much prefer Cruise. to be honest, the 2016 compilation The Sound Of Being Alive is probably your best starting point, containing all """"the hits"""" (gag). but it will certainly give you a crash course in what the boys are about, and, you get all the best cuts of the Peter Sotos era releases like Mummy And Daddy without his exploitation sample collage tracks, that i'm not really a fan of. it depends on your taste, man. if you like old-world industrial then go through their discography chronologically starting with Birthdeath Experience. that would be edifying for sure.
  16. they were released for one day only - you might have missed your chance... unless you find them in a bush ofc i'm digging them. but that might be because i love tape saturation and "lo-fi" recordings in general; there's less structure to the tracks and they definitely function more as sketchbooks of ideas rather than stipulated releases. but, i like that immediacy and rawness(?)
  17. it's true what are your favourite Sunn O))) releases? i've really been enjoying the Life Metal demos/rehearsals that were released for "Bandcamp day" last week BWOOOOOO
