acoustic stuff is from GIKs acoustics. they're nice people. helped me fix some bass problems. made the studio when i refinished the basement. but it's just a room w/decent lights and acoustic panels. it doesn't have a floating floor anything like that. i need all the help i can get w/mixing. w/o basstraps i'd be fucked. after 20+ years it's nice to not have a studio in the kitchen or piled up next to my bed. http://www.gikacoustics.com/ imo, it's not too crazy packed w/gear though. MW XT, blofeld, NL 2X, G2 engine, Octatrack.. eurorack system, old PC laptop for whatever FX munging mackie mixer, yammy DX-11.. some old boss half rack FX and a TC D2 delay, 2009 Mac pro. RME fireface, lnyx aurora, unitor 8 for midi and stack of hard drives. i've gone through having too much gear and just having a computer and a sampler. i have a good relationship w/the gear i have now if that makes sense. i use it all. it's nice to focus on different things.. different working environments.

so basically, the cocaine cowboy years. must've been fun by the mid 90s i was determined to leave. too many people. too many fucking idiots. lot's of corruption and i couldn't stand the heat anymore. now it's kind of my nightmare but is better in some ways too. it really was a backwater town town with multicultural hick charm up until the 90s.. there's still a lot of that in parts of miami.. and of course plenty of hicks all over the state. 70s and 80s were great though. i don't know how me and all my friends aren't dead from doing totally stupid shit and pushing our luck well into the 90s.

inject me with stem cells and nano bots and give my brain a memory chip. i'm all good w/being ghost in the shell. but am happy to unplug a few times a year and go wander or just stay unplugged and work on music or whatever. i think TV is a bigger problem for me anyways. TV is something that, for a lot of people, just stays on all the time.. like a fireplace that provides background noise or something. i guess internet addiction and game playing is a real thing but i think relationship to all that is very different for different generations and personality types. it's going to be an interesting few decades ahead.
