  2. Honestly the corporate world seems so fake to me it honestly baffles me how people do it and succeed at it.

Wish i could do something like what  Mike does from Better call saul.

yeah the 10k hours thing only works if you practice deliberately, otherwise you're very likely to progress very slowly. to those who don't know what deliberate practice is, i'll just quote a bit from the wiki article:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Practice_(learning_method)#Deliberate_practice

basically, you need to identify your weaknesses and systematically target those areas where you suck and work on them methodically, and constantly raise the bar higher. that's how you get to insane levels of mastery. so it's less about putting in the hours than it is about being methodical and smart with your practice.

    totally agree with you 100%

btw here's a post-tuss era afx tune that i absolutely love despite the fact that it's harmonically simple, proof that i actually don't give 2 fucks how complex a tune is:

ok, the microtonal intervals add a layer of complexity but you get my point.

What about this beautiful bassline ? Always love how it just jumps between octaves. I wonder if he used just one 303 ( if its even a 303) for this.

I think stuff like this proves that it's not solely about just grinding until you're suddenly a great composer, it has to be something else, like the way they actually think about music is entirely different. Otherwise you'd just be believing that they were born with musical talent or a brain that learns 1000x faster than the average person which is absurd. And aphex proves it's not about knowing music theory so you nerds can fuck off with that. It's gotta be something to do with the way they conceptualize music OR how they treat the process of creating and/or listening. telling people they just need to grind it out seems like the slowest and least efficient way to get to that point, and they may never even get there.

Why is it always that people try to tell them self's there is some "secret" that they are missing out on when it comes to getting good at something. Its quite  littlerly just sitting there and  perfecting your craft day in day out.  These people like mozart miles davis etc just start out so  young and just put so much time it in it that it just inevitable that u wont get good at it.   I wonder if they would of turned out differently in the internet age with so much distraction. Wasnt mozart know for having a foot fetish ? dude probably would be watching feet porn all day if he was born in this generation and get nothing done. The fact that there was probably nothing else to do helped aswell, the alternative to playing your instrument was probably eating sand or playing with a stick.

But at the end of the day  its just speculation maybe these people were born geniuses who knows .

i only like the instrumental tbh but you are definitely wrong saying that it's the worse music ever made. i can think of things much worse

If you don't mind me asking, how old were you when you got it? And how loud / what kind of tinnitus sound is it?
Don't want to derail the thread, but this is interesting.

I got it when i was 18 . I remember getting it when some  fluid behind my eardrum cleared up and a ringing appeared. The sounds i have is some white noise type sound fairly high freq in my right ear, and your typicial ringing sound at the left and right ear  at different freq added to that. It really only bothers me when im trying to sleep and even that im getting at better at dealing with. Probably someday it wont bother me at all anymore. I find it hard to define the loudness of it because that depends on a lot of factors stress etc, but i cant overpower it with fans noise or anything like that. Certain sounds seem to amplify at is aswell like everytime a church bell rings idk what that is about lol.

This is pretty awesome. At the moment I'm playing the Indian Shruti tuning through the Surge plugin, using the free version of mts esp. I also came across this list: https://en.xen.wiki/w/List_of_Microtonal_Software_Plugins, which was helpful. There's also a lot of pre-made tunings available on-line, such as this site: https://sevish.com/music-resources/

This whole thing is kind of making me interested in mircotunings now.

Yea the full version goes  even deeper it allows u to make your own tunings however u want. You should check out the 30 day demo if u haven't. Making my own tuning tables was all a bit over my head still so i just stuck to pre made tunings for now until i figure it further out. Also here are some aphex twin tunings he released together with the minilogue ? i think. in case u find that fun look at.

Honestly, a bigger complaint I have is that sequencers are all based around divisive rhytm, that's a WAY bigger limitation.  Additive rhythm is a huge part of a lot of nonwestern music, is way more intuitive for me personally, and tends to produce a lot more variety but it's ridiculously cumbersome to sequence additive rhythms in more or less anything, hardware or software.  Microtonal music in a DAW is really just a matter of turning of the piano display on the piano roll if it bugs you (which is one click in Reaper, can't speak for other DAWs), using instruments that can support different tuning systems (tons out there) and working from there.  I guess it would be kind of nice if alternative mnemonic devices other than the piano keyboard were options in more DAWs but it's pretty easy to work around that.  Sequencing in additive rhythm is universally a fucking mess, though.

What is it that you would need for additive rhythm that you are missing ? Never really heard those terms before.
