  1. Lady of the Lake (1974) by Bill and Louise Etra
  2. Not to be confrontational, but the JS Bach of our time with the inventions and fings (citation needed.) No offense to other composers; this site/world is bursting with legends! ¹ see also assertion re: "Best thing since paper"
  3. Richard D. James is the best thing to happen to Music since paper.
  4. I worked on a Troma movie once and got to visit the office, and Lloyd Kaufman said I could have a free DVD, and I picked Cannibal the Musical. I grew to really enjoy south park, then they fell off a bit, buckling to certain political trends rather than bucking them, but their paramount series is doing well, seems like comedy central or viacom might have had a bit too much control but paramount seems to give them carte blanche, and I think they've got a chance to make some profound statements at their current level. but on the topic of GAS, I'm looking at building a new computer and i heard that AMD is supposed to be releasing a next gen processor around September or so, and that means the current top of the line Ryzens will be cheaper, and I might build one of those. My current computer is a kind of middle of the road 4 core i5 from 2015. Core count is one thing, but also the speed per core might actually be more important. And I want to try the m.2 drives that run on the pci express buss rather than slow old sata3. all i needs is mo money and i'll be in biznass.
  5. I like whenever someone is hyping 'the genre' and Rephlex whether it's on youtube or wherever, just so long as it's not damaging the artists. But whoever it is appears to be a fan obviously. It was nice to look at the selections because there was a lot of stuff i haven't heard in a long time, and stuff I hadn't gotten around to listening to yet and probably wouldn't have otherwise. finding that account got me nostalgic for myspace and it's funny how the Tuss still intrigues new people. probably hundreds of years in the future, classical music pilgrims will have to pass through their own Tuss phase when the time is right in their Aphex scholarship.
  6. one of the early pioneers in the Cybernetics movement, Heinz von Foerster "where is reality? can you show it to me?"
  7. Where's the Happy Birthday Richard thread?
  8. America, since more people continuously have moved there since prehistoric times, of course more problems would follow, since people and problems are usually found together. I don't know of another diverse place in terms of cultures, genetics or ideas as the USA, (ok maybe India). the general sentiment i hear is that americans don't have a comfy social safety net, but the places that do have a comfy social safety net _usually_ have an inverse proportional amount of opportunity and real cultural diversity. after living in sweden a while i have decided that to me, freedom is about being able to develop and be a part of a culture/subculture that is distinct from a "democratic" monoculture. it's about at least, tolerating people who have different values than i do. abstaining from hate. the alternative to that tolerance will appear like a monster from the id like in the movie Forbidden Planet.
  9. I can't go to your Soundcloud page without getting stuck listening to it all and wanting to write a book in the comments, and in all humility listening to your stuff can seem a better use of time than making my own choons. Bright, bright material.
  10. The Delta Send In Send Back (2001) Mj. Error https://www.discogs.com/master/207275-The-Delta-Send-In-Send-Back
  11. When i was in high school in the early 1990s, I had no interest in joining civilization and I pictured I would be homeless and use grill charcoal to make drawings on brown paper shopping bags and sell those, so things pretty much turned out as planned except the drawings aren't selling. I did a lot of good in my life but i took care to do a bunch of stupid things too I guess so nobody would mistake me for Jesus. The world of people has decided to do equally stupid stuff as a whole, and it's hard not to get solopsistic and think the world is a perceptual model in the skull and all we do is borrow and assign meaning to abstract tokens, and that the outward world of stupid stuff is really a subconscious impression/culmination of my own karma. In case I'm right and I'm imagining the world into existence, I am sorry and I will try to behave better.
  12. Renoise and a Cirklon Real estate to build an Albert Speer-like bunker with a climate controlled sound studio designed by Frank Comentale.
  13. I enjoyed listening to your material last night. The changes are relentlessly good and interesting. The grooves are really good. To my ear it sounds like your older mixes are super clean and some of the later ones start getting into a second generation cassette tape territory and I wasn't sure if they weren't remixes of old 80's stuff till you corrected me. What's the story/process with the vocals? Which piece are you the most happy with in terms of balance between best mix and best music?
  14. when'd you make this one?
  15. Whoever is running that account, they come off as kind of new, but how do they have all those Patskins? They don't seem like they even WATMM'd before. I thought the WATMMs were the only ones who can Tregaskin.
  16. I hope I'm not ruining it, but the SC tracks apparently have been reupped to SC by some mysterious user. Whoever this is they are utterly hammering SC with loads and loads of relevant stuff like a super fan on a caffiene bender. I mean if it ain't Warp or Rephlex running this account, they might as well be.
  17. for this one i had a piece of masonite that size and i decided i wanted to do a poster of this digital image but i didn't want to cut the sheet of mdf so i just repeated the image going down. i slapped a little paint on it here and there, put up some wood supports on the back, and there's an angled bit of wood support on the top so it can hang on any screw in the wall. the original photo is some art handlers holding an old famous artists work and i thought the original was already overboard with all the masks, gloves, handlers, ornate frame, and so i thought what if i made them look ridiculous by putting in the dogs playing poker rotated the wrong way like they are so concerned with safety and stuff that they may not even have the energy to see if the painting is right side up. there's a crack in the poster so i put some gold spraypaint in it. so maybe i could say it's an artwork about art rather than an artwork itself. the original digital collage has been run through some smoothing that makes it look weird if you look close.
  18. this DDSP thing works! (free) It's an a.i. trainable audio transmogrifier, either a synth or an effect. turn a voice into a violin for example: https://magenta.tensorflow.org/ddsp-vst This next dev, Uhhyou/Ryukau is doing some promising (free) xoxos-like physical modeling, esp: cymbals: https://ryukau.github.io/VSTPlugins/
