Independence Day: Resurgence - what the actual fuck/10 This has got to be the worst movie I've seen in years. The build-up is absolutely terrible, the only scene that contains any destruction is boring, the acting is fucking horrible, it's the last movie Robert Loggia was in, and the CGi is absolutely horrendous. I know I shouldn't expect anything from a movie like this and anything from Emmerich at all, but it was even worse than 2012.

That's brilliant! It's hilarious, but I feel sorry for Nintendo. But then on the other hand I think Nintendo owns like 33% of the Pokémon franchise, so they must be getting their cut.

Yeah, I listened to those commentary tracks earlier this year while working from home. It was a blast. Especially the Terminator commentary track. Highly recommended.

Lights Out - jump scares/10 I'm a sucker for horror movies even though none of them are ever actually any good. But if they're effective in what they set out to do then I'm sold. This one had it all: poor acting and tons of jump scares. And that's pretty much all they need.

Why is Alex Jones suddenly everywhere? Is he being louder than normal? Is he on the verge of suicide?

Did any of you see the 60 Minutes interview last night? Fucking hell. I refuse to link to the Gawker video because... well... Gawker... so here's the closest thing I could find to the video on Gawker that sums up all the best parts.

Yeah, it's definitely a great mix of Stephen King, Spielberg, X-Files, The Goonies etc. It's almost like a love letter to those things. I loved the first season, I loved the kids, the music, the look of it, the intro (holy shit, that intro is amazing). The only thing I think deserves a slap on the bottom is

that's pretty cool you're working with LEGO. do you like doing sound design? It's the fucking best. I can't imagine doing anything more fun than working on stuff like this I've got a ton of new things that should be released in the not too distant future that I can't wait to show tight. have you ever heard your stuff in a movie theatre type setting? Yes. Once. It was a long time ago and it sucked, haha. But I've done the sound design and music for a movie that I hope gets accepted to the Toronto Film Festival. If that happens then I really wanna go to Toronto to be part of the madness. Some time later this summer we're planning on borrowing a cinema for a couple of hours to get a listen to the mix on a proper movie theatre sound system, because mixing movies on nearfield speakers isn't optimal.
