My daughter was born this morning.

There’s something up with the low end as I’m not able to hear low low frequencies. And the highs sound hard as fuck. All my old mixes sound horrible. I’ve been listening to sound effects I know and listen to each and every day and the stereo perspective is all wrong. I even calibrated my speakers but that didn’t help at all. It could be due to some stupid reflections so I’m going to try out some acoustic fixes.

Aztec death whistles are scary as shit. Apparently, they would scare off the enemy by having an entire army blow into these. About Soundtoys... yeah, if you have FabFilter, Soundtoys and a couple of granular plugins you're pretty much set when it comes to sound design.

Ah gotcha! I actually ended up running a ton of my ambiences through Output's Portal. As a matter of fact, all the sounds during the scene where the space marine walks through the slow motion reverse battle scene was run through Portal. I love that plugin but it's ridiculously hard to use and required a ton of exports to get the sounds right. A lot of the ambiences apart from wind and dark drones are actually screams with a ton of reverb and filtered in various ways. I also really love using recordings of aztec death whistles as they sound menacing as hell. The same goes for pretty much any instrument that is able to play a low note. Run that through a ton of distortion (Decapitator is my favorite), add reverb, and the filter to your liking and you've got yourself some lovely sci-fi alarms/sirens. Oh by the way, I think I did use Turbine for the opening scene of the show and during a space ship flyby sound

Thanks, man! You can stream it on GamesWorkshop's streaming platform called "Warhammer+". Which sci-fi soundscapes do you mean? Is it just the overall ambiences and drones in the background? : )

Except that Frozen is a timeless classic and whatever that first track is sounds like something that fell out of the 90s butthole. Including the awkward snare repeats. Jesus fucking Christ. Oh fuck, that tempo change, hahahaaa!

I got a glimpse of the side of the internet that I rarely get to see. I became a member of a studio acoustic group on Facebook today. Asked one question about my new studio and was instantly bombarded with replies like, "omg, you can't use that as a studio. what the fuck are you thinking? godspeed. jesus fucking christ".

Nice, man! Long distance relationships can be difficult, but as long as you're both new to that and know that you're new to it and can talk about it then you're on the right course. Just moved into our new house. I feel like I'm in a hotel. Everything smells weird and I still had to drive to our old place to work in my studio. We've been looking for a new place for 3 years and we finally found something that gives us a rural feel while we're only 8 minutes away from the city center. I'm still kinda worried about the financials, but I'm sure that'll all lock into place once we've paid the first couple of bills and hopefully know that we can do this.

Don't leave us hanging. A new Warhammer show I've done the sound design premiered two weeks ago and one of the big WH YouTubers is VERY positive about the whole thing. Made my heart melt. Seeing people's reactions has been absolutely amazing. Couldn't be happier!
