  4. I un-friended someone I went to high school with on facebook for dropping the n bomb in his status update. It was directed toward a black Utlimate Fighting Championship referee he didn't agree with.
  5. hahaha thats awesome, when i was a freshman, I got one of dimebag's guitar pics picks. You and I woulda been pals. Believe it or not, I was prom king senior year. It still boggles my mind. I couldn't give less of a shit. Some people were really pissed about it. I think it's hilarious.
  6. Here I am after getting Pantera's autograph, freshman year...
  7. 94-97 I'd say for the first 3 years I was definitely the acid-dropping metalhead. Senior year I was a hardcore raver.

    Ghosts

I love that half of the encounters on this thread involve using drugs. That should be a hint. My whole life, I've had dreams about ghosts. I still do. Most of the dreams take place in the old house I grew up in and moved out of when I was 12. The majority of those have something to do with the tool room in the back of the basement. When I was young, it always felt like something was in there. It had a very heavy door that we kept locked and if I remember correctly I think it also had a small window. Once, when I was 10 or 11, I was practicing my drums in the basement. I was the only one home. Out of the corner of my eye, I swear that I saw something move quickly from one end of the basement to the other and into the tool room. The was a loud noise like a door slamming and I ran the fuck upstairs and shut the door behind me. After that, I didn't go back downstairs for weeks. When I started going back down, I would yell things like "I'm not afraid of you" etc. The dreams I have about that basement are too terrifying to put into words.

  19. Just to let you in on a little secret... These mix-tapes were all made by rave DJs. The tapes were almost entirely made using 2 turntables, a mixer and a shitload of dope 12"s. That's about it really. I used to go to a lot of raves and see these DJs spin their shit. Sometimes they would put their own records in the mix. Sometimes, they would get special test-presses or dub-plates from well known producers and either drop them at the raves or throw those on the tapes. As far as what the producers used to produce the tracks: software, midi, samplers and synths. They had all of that in the 90s, it was just much more basic than it is now. The tapes were a big part of the rave culture. I collected a lot of these at the raves. Often times, you would go to a rave and there would be a table set up with a fuck-load of mix-tapes sorted by genre and you would just buy the ones from the DJs you knew and liked. Gone are the days... If you really want to find out more, start by researching some of the record labels. Most of this mid-90s shit was produced in the UK. The best labels, in my opinion, are: Suburban Base Dope Dragon Joker Ganja Congo Natty Moving Shadow V Classics Hard Leaders Promo Fresh Kutt Metalheadz Some labels like Hard Leaders, Metalheadz and Moving Shadow had darker stuff but it all varied from label to label, artist to artist and track to track. There are literally countless labels from this time period that put out quality shit. You are in for an exciting hunt. The vast majority of producers were also DJs. If you like dark, Technical Itch is where the buck stops. He is the best. If anyone knows if he ever cut a mix-tape, I would gladly blow you for a lead... but I doubt he ever did.
  20. Just saw them for my 4th time tonight. Epic as usual.
  21. MGMT - Congratulations I'm thoroughly obsessed with this album. I can't stop listening to it in it's entirety on repeat. I may pe-order the vinyl. Love it! current favotrite song: "Someone's Missing" it is 2:30 of bliss. Reminds me of a psychedelic Jackson 5.
