  1. hope we find out about something new this month. I remember a lot of the "inside knowledge" rumors said Feb was the month for something new. MFM? EDIT: just realized didn't minipops used to be on the soundcloud. Must have replaced it with this.
  2. maybe he's sour about mikep surpassing his upload count. Gotta catch up. Upload a couple unreleased albums from late 90s.
  3. also did somebody add this new track to the Mega archive? I wood luv to here it.
  4. idgaf about anything but music what did I miss? why is this political? so some people disagree with you, well that will always be the case. Let's keep on moving forward, dammit Richard it just makes everything more dramatic than it needs to be when the music is removed. lol
  5. I love aphex talking shit about squarepusher. first the robots album, then about him putting the crowd noises in his tracks. I hope they get into a feud of some kind. Reason being I think it would result in some really good music being released.
  6. says 210 tracks again, anyone know what got added back, and if it changed???
  7. i think when people are saying "drukqs era" they really mean, "unreleased tracker music from his laptop". Obviously he'd been doing a few different kinds of music in those years.
  8. wait guys maybe this is an ARG? maybe the order/tracks that have been removed are forming some kind of code?
  9. weird I would have figured that it was one of the ones already released like that japan track or something EDIT: or maybe he plans on releasing it on some official thing soon?
  10. lmao how the fuck is it possible people hadn't heard this it's been round like 10 years.
  11. I'm very positive this wasn't the case. He used the word 'GEAR' as a clue a lot. Last post from Joyrex about this: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/85201-guess-what-the-new-shit-is/page-67?p=2293732&do=findComment&comment=2293732 Sadly, I have news - Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your leanings) Richard is too focused on other items at the moment to devote time to this little project we had planned - it may happen in the future, but for now it's been shelved. Some clues: Silica Gel Shockcases And no, I'm not going to say what it was, because if it does pick up in the future, then we won't want to spoil it! The good thing is Richard says "lots of things in the works", so there will be more stuff to look forward to! meh, who cares we don't even know what it was. we do know there is music in the works and I would not want some project to distract from that. That's all I really care about.
  12. damn I'm jealous of y'all. My setup is currently a laptop w/ renoise and a microbrute lol and a field recorder. But I'm pretty into it right now. Also thinking of building out a modular setup of some kind.
  13. I like earth portal too, but it's so.... sloppy. (which I mean I think was on purpose but still, not my favorite.)
  14. doubtful. not such a big focus for parents in the UK vs US. oh true, I sometimes forget the US bubble I've become accustomed to.
  15. if he just put out a series of VOD style vinyl box sets of all this tuff that wouldn't happen, collectors would love it. we would all freak out and everyone but the cheap bastards would be happy yeah if it was a limited run box set he could've sold 10000 $200 box sets and put it in a college fund for his kids(I'm sure that's something he's thinking about). I think this just shows how much more "releasable" material (special edition SAW) he probably has from the time that could generate cash(for example this latest track he held out on giving away for some reason). And his ambitions to keep releasing new music.
  16. yeah I mean makes sense though they were supposed to get a proper release at some point it sounds like.
  17. Pretty sure Richard said he didn't view the SC tracks as any way inferior to his releases He did. Somewhere. Hence my line about AFX feeling he'd never want to release certain things "properly". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I still don't think he ever characterized them as inferior. He says he cherishes some of them more than any of his released material. Just for some reason or another he doesn't see them as fitting in on a release.
  18. It'd be pretty crazy if he was storing Druqks tracks on tapes I suspect he has far fewer Druqks tracks than any other type, he said himself those were the tracks he spent the most time on(I think that interview was pre-Tuss/Minipops tho) The fact he spent the MOST time on them probably means the opposite - he probably went through hundreds of revisions to get those tracks just the way he wanted them to be (and learning how to control his player piano). Personally, I really, really, want to hear more ICBYD outtakes (I suspect he's not releasing any variants of existing released works (barring a few exceptions) due to licensing issues). assuming he kept copies/renders of earlier revisions. Could have kept building off the same save files. I'm guessing there are not tons of earlier renders, but maybe. I would buy a box set of drukqs in-progress works, no question.
  19. "Over a 100 Aphex Twin demos, some of which date as far back as the '80s, were uploaded to SoundCloud by James earlier this year. Read more at http://www.nme.com/news/aphex-twin--2/87061#gMGlQpIRSOsembBq.99" well no shit, there were over 200 actually. What fucking lazy writers. They don't even mentioned the other two EPs after syro and CCAI and they don't even mention any of the MFM speculation either.
  20. lol at the person who thought it was "kanye west said"
  21. very strange if it was, since minidsic has ATRAC compression similar to early attempts at encoding 'high quality' mp3s that's right, although I think it can do PCM w/ some recorders.
  22. Kind of surprises me that analord was recorded onto minidisc
  23. wow that's really fucking interesting. I actually started to entertain the idea it was done in a tracker (only in the past few months actually), it dawned on me that most of the synth sounds even we're just loaded in a sampler and pitched up/down. The ease of pitch shifts and spindowns, different drum hits pitch shifted. The overall mechanical feel of the album, and the fact that it was done with relatively low firepower laptop setup. (must have been around 98-2000??)
