  1. Nice! curious to hear how it sounds.
  2. You mean like the Red Moon incident? What actually happened with the red moon incident? Was it real and BoC never showed? was it people reading too much into fake clues? Something in between?
  3. you also can't change to a new sequence mid-sequence & keep your place (the sequence always resets to the beginning when you switch). I don't believe that's true. That is true.
  4. Yeah first song seemed weird at first. But it's my favorite.
  5. I thought you were talking about richard as mr. jenkins and now I realize you probably meant jenkinson as in TOM
  6. not exactly analog gear. The qy700 and eventide dsp 4000 are very digital machines. A very powerful sequencer and a very powerful programmable digital audio processor. I'm guessing a lot of the programming changes on dsp4000 was sequenced in the q700. The other magic part of this sound was the hardware samplers which were also controlled via the qy700.
  7. B3 sounds like he's running some of the background synths through the leslie setup
  8. I t For me the drums and percussion on Syro, Analord, ODS, Cheetah, aren't nearly as expressive and dynamic as on RDJ, Come To Daddy or Drukqs. They sound very flat and lack a lot of velocity variation comparatively. It could just be a choice of taste at the time I suppose, but to me it seems he's not able to get that wide range of expressiveness in the percussion with the hardware. But like I said maybe he just chose not to. I don't think this has to do with hardware v. software as much as it has to do with his tastes and workflows on those albums, mixing and mastering too. I think it's totally possible to get very dynamic and interesting and flowing sounds from hardware, especially with powerful sequencers and automation which I know he has access to. Fenix funk 5 is a great example, I'm guessing that was mostly hardware.
  9. That track is fucking cool. Drums sound like some of the other new unreleased stuff. That switch up at 4:15. I love that. I can't wait for a new album. I think I like the sounds of this and the primavera track more than the houston track.
  10. Two tracks at Primavera, though? https://youtu.be/LCbCWxTwrVk?t=35m47s Oh I like that.
  11. wow, so that means we'll be getting the primavera track in high quality? If they are going to release multiple sources including his mixing desk, that is.
  12. this is fucking beautiful. Great release. I'm so happy to be able to hear it right now.
  13. wow this is cool. just the kind of shit i needed
  14. Congrats! That sounds like a lot of fun. Modular sounds fun. I'll probably start going a little nuts once I have more space.
  15. Well for one, I guarantee that this cover is going to get him a lot more attention and views than an original piece of music. So, exposure if that's what this person is looking for. I'm with you though, personally I would find that exercise boring and would probably start working on my own thing shortly after starting it.
  16. Likely because you're confusing dynamic range (the range of dynamics - i.e. loud sections vs quiet sections) with something else? Isn't there an implication that low DR would be overly compressed? I'm probably misunderstanding, agreed. Could be. But also compression isn't necessarily a bad thing nor is it the only thing that contributes to the overall sound of the mastering.
  17. I actually haven't. But I remember reports that it had issues. I assumed it was worse.
  18. I really wish I could hear the unmastered tracks off syro. I feel like the mastering on this is a bit heavy from the dynamics side of things. They did a great job making it all gel together but I feel like everything feels a bit squashed and stuffed up and some of the parts could breath a bit more. (compare to say, rushup edge). EDIT: transients are too squashed. Attack and release time on the mastering compressors were too fast. Maybe richard wanted it that way, but I still want to hear original mixdowns.
  19. This makes me suddenly want a nord modular to go along with my octatrack. Actually I have two fucking axoloti's I'll make a drum machine with that.
  20. haha I have both a TG33 and a bass station. What's the thing way up on the left in plastic wrapping? Looks kind of waldorfy but obviously it's something else.
  21. I keep on buying axoloti cores. I just keep seeing peoples cool projects. Plus all of the mutable instruments code has been ported to it :). I still haven't done anything cool with mine though :( what the hell. That's nuts.
