I still think druqks, the tuss + analord10, and SAW2 are the best projects he's ever done. But I mean I also love syro, and the RDJ album defines my delve into electronic music.

I'm pretty surprised how much hype this has gotten. This thread has already far surpassed the ODS thread which I would have assumed to be way more popular. personally ODS is one of my favorite releases, mostly because of simple slamming and serge rendered which are two of my all time favorite (now) released live tracks. Also because the rest of the tracks are also great. This EP is great and I am grateful for it, but I'm nowhere near the obsession level I can get on some releases.

If those tracks weren't released in the way they were at the time then we'd probably be getting a lot of these on EPs instead of the cheetah tracks. Fuck these are incredible. Flutternozzle, lisbon B acid, 3 notes con, love 7, stabbij. That would make a lovely EP. Or a bodmin EP! He could still repress them to vinyl. It would be really nice to have that. EDIT: almost forgot about carnival acid. These tracks are as good if not better than the rest of analord.

oh sorry. i meant the ODS leak was in mono I think. way back whenever that happened. EDIT: And also yes it seems very mono to me as well. I haven't like, analyzed it but it's obviously mono as fuck.

cirklon1 reminds me of analord 6 but then I start getting rolls that sound straight out of RDJ/cometodaddy era which I didn't really expect to hear from aphex ever again but it's awesome.

I wonder how much his name still sells for warp. The promotional stuff they had on this was, I agree, kind of insane, but kind of funny, didn't kill the fun for me. anyhoo, listening to the EP now and I love the vibe and the way it's mastered. Got a nice gritty but non annoying high end. Getting super bwoon dub vibes.

yes. Also, just to mention. People constantly have this expectation for aphex to sound a certain way on a new release and it NEVER has. It's always something a little different then the last thing. SLow as fuck ambient. insane drill. basic as fuck techno/acid. He does everything and releases things sometimes. Get over it. He's a multi-faceted artist.

It's got a catchy tune but the synth programming doesn't sound like RDJ. The drum programming does a little bit but it's less refined. The reverb doesn't sound like any reverb he has used in recorded tracks, and the compression sounds also completely different from what I've heard on any of his tracks. Pretty obviously not him. Then again, when the tuss came out it sounded so different from everything else it was hard to tell (well, it sounded a lot like analord 10 but that's really it). But I think with the tuss it was also so fresh and good that it had to be him. The above track is too messy and uninteresting to be RDJ, even if he did change his sound again.

I'm not sure where this constant attitude that he is lying or trolling in his interviews. Yes there are a couple of interviews where he takes the piss but the vast majority of things he says in interviews are true. Yes he did record/live in a bank, yes he DOES have a fucking tank, yes he has all that crazy gear, yes he had hundereds upon hundereds of unreleased tracks. That shit is all fucking real.

My guess is that is was track 3 of his "cheetah" EP back when he first recorded tracks for the EP and put them through some TEAC tape recorder or something. when he bounced back digitally he just named them cheetah[X] TEAC which made it straight to soundcloud that way. But the original true name was cirklon3, as in the 3rd track he did on the cirklon.

This sounds like it was re-recorded almost. Could be my different headphones or the mastering. EDIT: i take that back. I think it's just the mastering / my setup.
