  1. It's still really good, but for me Quaristice was the turning point (or, arguably Untilted). Though I think Oversteps is better than either of those (sue me). The run from Tri Repetae through Draft was just incredible, for any artist. Hard not to see it as a long, sustained peak of creativity and productivity. Anyhoo. Sorry I'll shut up. I am excite, too. I do believe they will always drop something surprisingly awesome from time to time, like the incredible live stuff... 100% with you on this one. I'm actually glad to have found someone who thinks the same as i do. The turning point was clearly Untilted. We had some great moments since then, but the quality of earlier AE (lp5, EP7, confield, draft) is on another level. Disagree with you guys on Untilted being the turning point because I enjoyed it Quaristice more than both Confield and Draft. Untilted was definitely subpar, but that didn't bug me when it came out because it sounded fresh and it still sounded like Autechre. For the most part I can't say that about the 2010 shit; it is very patchy to my ears. I do believe that they have been prioritizing optimization of the creative process over doing things that produce interesting results since Untilted, though. So in that sense I would agree that Untilted is a turning point of sorts, just not quite one completely for the worse yet at that point. I guess on Quaristice this actually worked nicely for me, probably because those live jams were worn down into their best, core components after months of touring, like stones smoothed in the river. In other words there was still just as much hard work involved, but this was done concurrently with, and as part of, on-stage improvisation & experimentation. I'd love to hear more of this kind of process.
  2. this i's a great, new, alabum from the Band: autechre. just came out. thankes for pinned this thread!!!
  3. Something with red or orange. They haven't done anything with a red cover, right? Then again, I don't think they have any tracks containing the letter J, either. It's probably one of those Asperger's phobia type things like Ulillillia's fear of the word "people." Edit: Djarum
  4. If I'm being totally honest, I agree with lumenprol 100%. However, I'm feeling pretty optimistic for this one, for some reason.
  5. Holy crap you've got some expensive toys.
  6. Nice, I'm surprised I could recognize some of that stuff with all the blurriness lol. Damn, so many cats using ESX-1s! Kinda makes me want one.
  7. Oh, damn. That's just as sexy as that burner on the last page in its own understated way.
  8. LOL what a bunch of pussies. Why does bonito do that, though? It's kind of weird. (runs to google)
  9. Very drool-worthy. I might have to save those pix.
  10. Damn, do I ever hear this. So tired of being a lethargic fatass. I'm almost 30 now, it's getting ridiculous.

    "Rare" Gescom

Yeah, I love "Two Of". Made a patch for its main synth under the same name in my TX81Z.
  12. I feel too stupid and lazy to make any meaningful changes in my life.
  13. Did someone say tongue is strange? I guess there's a time when I thought it was too. I like the Mexican version, barbacoa I think it's called? Also the Japanese grilled version (sliced thin) is really nice. Also, natto's smelly and just kind of bland on its own but it's nice with Japanese mustard. (no weeaboo)
  14. It's sad watching them after loving so much of their stuff from the last 30 years. Starting to look like they're going to go down in flames.
  15. How does one fall into this occupation?
  16. That makes a lot of sense. I'm fortunate to have a room dedicated to music. That said, I don't think I make too much noise setting stuff up... I could be wrong though. Would it be helpful for you to put down some fabric to dampen the sound of your gear being put on solid surfaces? I imagine this would also help protect your gear and those surfaces too. I do this with my mixer because it tends to scratch up surfaces if I don't. Also it's a way to make your workspace look a little classier.
  17. Me too. To a fault :P
  18. Yes! Especially if you're sensitive to visual clutter.
