  1. I'll sort out of some pics tomorrow if I don't forget It's not expensive at all, well, let's say you can build one for under 150 (EMT plate reverbs were about 10 000!) euros I think. And it's not tricky at all really. You gotta be a little bit inventive. We used an old pc speaker for the input. You can use piezo transducer for the output most of the times. For the plate, we built a wooden frame, and we drilled holes in the corners of the plate to attach/hang it in the frame. The corners are a bit problematic though, because the way we attached it causes the vibrations of the sound from the speakers on the plate to stop a little bit too soon maybe. So the decay could be longer, going to find a fix for that. http://nicksworldofsynthesizers.com/plate.php I think we used this as a guide back then thats awesome
  2. omfg. cute language overload
  3. yep. takes a lot of headroom too (loudness wars is urgh to me tho) it also depends on what sort of music you make - the Rolando Simmons stuff, for instance, has loads of bottom end, but it isnt really 'clubby' music, is it. i just got brought up on 90's jungle so i like dem low bass notes, innit
  4. I wpukd just like to add, the tops on the jbls aren't as harsh as the adams. I haven't been fatigued by them
  5. R-54 is organic as fuck when paired with attenuators & the right triggers.. its a right funny one tho, one small movement and you lose the sound & it doesnt track well and it has glide on all the time (vactrols) but when you find the sweet spot... yummy let us know how the VCA is... i love metasonix (only got the R54, but would love all the yellow stuff)

update: really liked postsingular! its hyper-colourful & futuristic, it does go into cartoony tripped out style but i still enjoyed it. not hard-sf per se but still a good read, so much so ive just bought hardcover of the sequel, Hylozoic which was the reason i read PS in the first place - apparently the sequel is even weirder. He's a bit like Hunter S Thompson meets Iain M Banks
  7. you got the R-54?

  9. Omg! Tickly lizard I had a garter snake (don't judge , I was young) & 2 rainbow agamas. The agamas weren't sociable like that! Tickly lizards & ferrets are awesome
  10. Here's a question... What does a normal run of the mill home stereo tail off at? And if one was looking to make mixes that translate to what normal people listen on why would they want monitoring that pumps way lower than that. I ask because my mixes translate reasonably okay but whenever I have a sine bass that pitches down I lose the tail on most "normal stereos." i Just like it (bass head) they translate fine, most systems dont do that low :] home stereos (and some monitors) can be tailing off at 50hz. an 808 is an 80hz pitch drop

Update: can't put 'postsingular' down... 59% in & really like it. It's never too corny but hi-tech, colourful , psychedelic... And free from his website: http://www.rudyrucker.com/postsingular/cc_downloads/ He's a computer scientist or mathematician from silicon valley & a bit of a dude

Just started 'Postsingular' by Rudy Rucker. enjoyably cool so far. Hard sci-fi about nanotech. Tried 'origin' by JA Konrath - supposed to be creepy but I found it corny. Gave up halfway through
