there's this thing called empathy. it's when people with social skills come out of the basement and adapt their arguments to non-nerd audiences.

If by this you mean having no knowledge on a subject you're making an opinion about, okay.

Oh no, the two dumbest boards on 4chan are blocked for some people in another country! How will I cope?

mm. it's more than just a dumb board. internet nasties posted on there heaps due to the anonymous nature of the board. i'm very very much against net neutrality (espicially in australia, where our govt. has been making some ridiculous claims recently on the issue) but i think i actually am happy to draw the line at a site as ridiculous as /b/.

If you ask me, the real threat to international security came from /r9k/, which is like an even way more underground and violent /b/. It's like hackers on steroids on METH, man.

And what exactly is wrong with it? It's just a bunch of teenagers pretending to be an "internet hate machine", it's hardly the kind of threat you made out in your post. To make my position totally clear, I don't think /b/ deserves to be blocked in the slightest, but this doesn't effect me in any way so I don't really care.

I've never actually seen any cp on 4chan... Not that I think it doesn't exist. I've just never seen any posted.

cp much?

No, actually, not that much. At least not today. And the mods are on it very quickly. It's more of a running joke than anything else.

cp actually does/or has been posted on that site a fair bit. they have the whole, injoke/pedobear thing, and then theres actual posting of real child porn. i agree 100% that it's not funny, but apperantly it's more an injoke now so i guess it's no big deal..

i just wanna point something out that somebody else pointed somewhere out

If the phrase "Child Pornography" is used enough times on a website that you have to abbreviate it to "CP," then something's seriously wrong.

seems like first the claims about the ddos attacks have to be verified. if that were the reason, and it were verified, they are a private business and they have a right to do what they need to, if it is affecting their operation and service. if they are just saying that, then that is something else, but i think it is probably both. there probably were ddos attacks linked to ips of that board, and maybe they came right from that domain how do i know, but i'm sure they also took other factors into consideration when they made the decision, which is i guess where the rub is.

here is what i think will happen in the future. i think there will be clean providers. they will provide filtered access, and people who want that will be who uses their service. they will be able to use the internet with less of a chance of stumbling on a blowjob or beheading, and can just use it for math homework or whatever. people who don't want that, well i imagine these isps also figure they can clean their customer base at the same time. of course there are normal, stable people who also want a free internet, who would rather be able to see everything as it is and for those people, well like someone says no one owns all the computers, so aside from a legislative act (and probably not even then) i don't see how you can stop some form of free internet, even if it got horribly fragmented or segragated at some point in the future it will still exist.
