New Doctor Who Series 5 Trailer

WTF just happened?

You mean in the trailer? Basically a metaphor for the adventures that lie ahead, and the whole 'trust me' thing... I must admit, it's quite the departure from previous series' trailers.

This is supposedly also being shown in front of Alice In Wonderland in the UK in 3D.

+5 for blink reference

I'm definitely looking forward (although the trailer is a little cheese), but I fear about 50% of the viewership is going to disappear without Mr. Tennant to fap too. My ex was all: "Matt Smith is just not attractive."

edit: anyone know when BBC America (or maybe SyFy?) is going to start airing Series 5? I don't want to wait six months.

I personally like what I've seen of him so far better than Tennant, and the viewership wasn't skewed that highly towards females - mostly children from what I read.

Oh, and that's not a Blink reference - the Weeping Angels are back in this series.

Ok, but the Weeping Angels were only in the episode "Blink" so far, right? lol, you knows what I means. I'm pretty excited they're back: that was a terrific episode and this makes me glad Steven Moffat ("Blink" writer) took over as exec producer from Russell T Davis.

I know quite a few nerd-girl crushes on David Tennant (and lawl, the lines at comicon were intense), but yeah, that's probably not a huge demographic.

Yeah, sorry - should have said "not JUST a Blink reference"... but yeah, I know!

Steven Moffat (the guy who wrote Blink and some of the best Doctor Who episodes from the last four series) is the show's frontrunner now, so I expect amazing stuff.

The music (if anyone was wondering) sounds like a modified version of Florence + The Machine's song, "Cosmic Love"...

BBC America will show Series 5 shortly after it airs in the UK - they're trying hard to get it almost in parity.

I just wish goddamned Comcast would get BBC America HD - I hate watching HD shows in SD quality...

Same here w/r/t my TW cable affiliate.

Also: is there a series four of Torchwood coming, despite the mega-bleak ending of series 3? I needs more Gwen and Captain Jack, preferably getting it on with everything in the world including each other kthx.

There are rumours of Torchwood 4 coming, and the possibility of a US-based Torchwood as well. I think if anything, TW4 will be another special rather than a series.

Ah, that might be ok. It worked pretty well in a more constrained format, without the monster-of-the-week focus. On the other hand, I don't know how they can regroup quickly enough from Children of Earth for a shorter storyline.

I'm still reeling from losing Tosh and Owen back in series 2, though. Especially Tosh. It was painful to go back through the old DW episodes a while ago and see her introduced in the first Slitheen ep. I'm such a baby.

Wasn't much for the new trailer most of it is just "OO AHH" special effects for the 3d parts that are shown in theaters, as for matt smith only seen like 40secs worth of acting but from what i have seen he just creeps me out, HUGE forehead, also hate the costume... which incidentally Matt Smith Chose himself much like David Tenant did, and tenants is WAY cooler.

Id bang the new assistant though

Okay, I hate Doctor Who.

But I have to admit that this trailer looked pretty slick. Doctor Who has always been so embarassingly shoddy, but they've excelled themselves here. I doubt whether the series will be anything like that, but I won't be watching it anyway... because it's shit.

This is probably the best Doctor Who I've seen. It's still expectedly lame, but it's started promisely.

Mainly I think I just hated Tennant. Fuck, I hate over-acting, punch-face, Tennant.

Edit: It's still as tedious and boring as ever. But yeah, more watchable than fucking Tennant.
