So it appears I've got another 'virus'..either that or it's these programs telling me I do so that I'll buy their shit product. Either way, it's been giving me obnoxious notifications and porno/viagra ads (let it be known that I have been going on no different websites than I did when I did not have these 'virus' problems). I want get rid of this shit..it's annoying

Help, por favor

For those of you reformatting go to www.ninite.com - select the programs you want and it does all the work for you.

For anti-virus the new Microsoft Security Essentials is very awesome and has been getting some great comparison reviews. You can get both it and malwarebytes through ninite.

I've just finished doing a reformat of my machine after battling some virus/malware for nearly 3 weeks. Finally I said fuck it...all my stuff was backed up anyway. No fun though, had a lot of side projects and personal work to do and I had to do it all at the office while my home PC was out of commission...it was tough squeezing in time to research and fix the problem too. Probably spent close to 80 hours here each of the last 3 weeks, including weekends.

In all seriousness - if you get one of those fake antivirus viruses, get combofix.exe, and run it - it will be fixed and gone in less than 15 minutes. I actually keep it on my desktop just in case.

If you get the latest inception of these fake antiviruses, they'll actually try to terminate any new process you start (including legit antivirus like combofix) - so put combofix on a USB drive or something, then boot in safe mode and run it. It'll be gone.
