Please criticize my new track

Recommended Posts

Made this a few days ago. Yes I used Glitch sparingly, I'm aware how lazy a move that is but fuck it, I'll figure out how to do those effects in Reason soon enough. Tell me what I'm missing here though, I like this track but I can't tell if that's just because I listened to it on a loop for like 6 hours when I made it.

I would ease off on the effects even if you plan on using something different than Glitch or even using them in a different way if possible.

I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe some sort of phasing effect to draw the listeners attention to the different channels? Gives the track more shape..

the easiest way to make glitch effects in reason is creatively using dr. rex/dr. octorex together with really high bpms and frequency changes. i guess you can fuck around with malström, thor or subtractor as well, but that takes much more effort.

EDIT: something needs to be done to make the main melody playing in the beginning stand out a bit, i think. i'd say pan it out a bit, because now the bassline takes all the attention

I thought it wasn't too bad myself. My main problem was I felt it was lacking in direction but yes I agree with the others definitely overkill on the effects. To start with the effects were more subtle but towards the end you go pretty mad on them. I think I got lost in the track with all the fx and soloing and couldn't seem to find the 'hook' except for the bassline. The first minute or so was the best part for me. :-)

the mix just sounds weird. as per hautle everything is very mid range. that melody is too buried, too effecty. i'd just try taking stuff out as it just seems a bit busy.

also i like how the drums break down, just not the straight bass-snare for so long.

good track tho

liked this

sounds like some early 80s electro throwback

the overall production sounds abit thin somehow, not enough bass, sounds abit weedy

Thanks for the input fellas, yeah I still haven't quite figured out the mastering side of things. Definitely an area I need to improve on. I sorta felt the same thing that some of you did near the end where it kinda becomes a bit of a jumble.

Also I haven't quite figured out how to write a consistent lead. For this track I basically just solo'd madly throughout the whole thing, and then sliced it up and turned it into something with a reasonable amount of structure. That being said, it's not quite as coherent as I'd have liked it to be.

Thanks again for the input though, and LUDD I still love you :cisfor:

Nice

When the beat started, I thought yeah this is nice and sassy!

But then I felt a bit like the beat is trying to hurry itself up; if it´s possible to slow down the tempo just a little bit, that´s I´d do anyway.

Cos I DJ at a club occasionally, and sometimes (if music is downloadable) I feel like playing something I´ve found on watmm. I could totally imagine this being played for the purpose of dancing to, but then i realised it was actually just a little bit too fast for that.

Nice work anyway :)
