    Bitcoin

one of the main things currently stopping financial institutions and governments from fully accepting bitcoin is that it lacks consumer protection, and this is exactly the thing that the original bitcoin protocol was meant not to be dependent on. i can see a couple of startups trying to fix this: like flexcoin and coinbase, but considering 3% of all the bitcoins that will ever exist just vanished, i see some serious regulations either coming into play or bitcoin not really becoming the currency replacement it was meant to be

    Bitcoin

but that's how the internet started out too. there was a time when the clearnet was more like the darknet until more and more people started getting on the net and suddenly it was necessary to police things because it was technically not policed. when more and more legit businesses started getting on the internet- well, suddenly things had to change because now you can't have people sending you images of decapitated bodies etc. right now, the only reason i see that bitcoin isn't regulated is because not many people depend on it, but as soon as this begins to change i can't see governments just letting it work without some kind of intervention. i can pretty much guarantee you there is no way this will work without being policed by a third party.

it also proves people can't police themselves and need government intervention to regulate things. the japanese police will issue an investigation- which could in turn mean that the exchanges could now have police regulations so...
  4. this is my favorite hiphop movie. even though it's "kinda" a b-movie, it has a couple of very serious discussions about the rap music industry and racism. it's also got a very tribe-called-quest type soundtrack particularly like the below "hit" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5GtKUAzjQY then there's this killer group called under the gun that's got bangers for days http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Uv3wrBmqDM
  5. this was on tv last night. laura dern's mom is very hawt in it out of ten
  6. I'm speechless. Have there been any reports about this? I mean we could debate crime and racism all day, but the reckless cop with the gun dropping f-bombs is a disturbing thing to behold. while the results are somewhat realistic the neighborhoods are completely different. the white guy is breaking into a car around the beverly center (next block over from beverly blvd) whilst the black guy is breaking in on hollywood blvd. those are two completely different areas. there was actually two murders (completely unprovoked and random) on hollywood blvd. end of last year so people are bound to act differently.
  7. sorry, i didn't see this until now. i got mine from amoeba records. i actually had to pre-order to guarantee i got a copy then i picked it up at the store
  8. the eccentronic research council: magpie billy & the egg that yolked (a study of the northern ape in love): well, where do i start? this is an odd duck. it's kinda noisy and shaky electronic music narrated by maxine peake (whose voice is quite lovely) about a motorcycle bum "with the demure of a silent and deadly assassin". everything after that just goes to pot and gets very random. it's definitely one of those albums where you have to listen to everything being said otherwise you're missing out on a big portion of 'the good stuff'. gorgeous electronics though the eccentronic research council: the dreamcatcher tapes vol.1: now this i'm REALLY digging. an actress (maxine peake), a film director, a boy, a scientist, a writer, an art curator, a child quiz champion, a poet and an electronic musician narrate their dreams all backdropped by eccentronic research council electrics (except for side 2 of the vinyl that has pye corner audio. this project is influenced by delia derbyshire's 'the dreams' suite, and yes. it's head-damagingly good
  9. be careful. that show is very very addictive. i also had a major crush on zotoh zhaan
  10. it's killing robocrap @ the box office watched the matrix the other day (on tv). surprisingly, i found it extremely cheesy- mostly because of the very philosophical dialogue everyone (especially the oracle) delivered like "oh, i don't apologize about the vase" what vase? *drops vase "that one" how did you know.... "a better question is- would you still have dropped it if i never mentioned it?" it does this the entire film and it's very annoying with morpheus being the real culprit of the plato talking
  11. thinking about starting a kickstarter so i can buy and review this watch but i'm battling with the idea of just pocketing the cash anyway. lots to think about

  14. still happening but basically: gameboy advance games coming to wii u. new mario kart (8?) and donkey kong games that look really good. other nerdy games that i've never heard of. a new mario game that's been upgraded where you're carrying a mario baby or something that enters a bubble and then a timer comes up and you gotta do something to rescue it. a new japanese fighting game that's developed by some japanese nerd that's well known to nerds (entire trailer was in japanese) i'm missing a few things but that's what caught my eye
  15. new donkey kong looks amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bklH6eGScqY

  17. don't hate the player. hate the game it's very silly (at least, from the 10 minute teaser). i think after 'the fountain' aronofsky has lost it since 'black swan' was basically a 'perfect blue' ripoff
  18. a typical piece of hollywood guff. basically, gladiator meets titanic on the edge of mount vesuvius and kiefer sutherland acting as a pompous roman senator from 'yes, prime minister'. also, it's been unnecessarily made into a 3d/RealD film which honestly adds nothing also, at the same theater: this was taking place 4 flaming piece of molten lava out of 10
  19. found out a few minutes ago: adam cooley of scissor shock died 2 days ago. sad. i actually knew this dude mostly from discussing movies with him. personally, his own work wasn't for me, but he had his fans (including venetian snares) later homie
  20. a tv show based on a semi-fictional account that ian fleming was pretty much- james bond, sleeping with all sorts of gorgeous dames, going skiing in exotic european locations whilst simultaneously sloshing down expensive bottles of liquor while moonlighting with dodgy mad tycoons with designs to see england loose the war all in the name of her majesty. a tough pill to swallow but they did a bang up job on production design
  21. for us uh-mericans that wanna melt our brains on the big screen, a field in england is coming to the free world. check and see if your city is ready to support brain frying cinema
